I didn't have terribly high expectations for this hotel to begin with, but I was making my travel arrangements late and had to take what I could get. There was no elevator in the building they put us in. As I had a large and heavy suitcase on wheels, this was no small problem. The room itself was dingy and not very clean. The best I can say for the bathroom was that it was bright. The continental breakfast was ... interesting (and not in a good way). Perhaps it would have been different if we'd been booked into one of the other buildings in the hotel.

One thing in its favor: the location. You are only a couple of miles from the Grand Canyon National Park.

After reading comments posted by others, it seems to me that the review somewhat depended on if the reviewer was foreign or American.

The hotel's lobby appears like that of a luxury hotel but the two rooms I stayed (and that of my coworkers) were rooms that appeared to be decorated in the 70s or early 80s. Very dated and "used." The tv got a limited number of channels, maybe 15 or so (no HBO) and there is no internet access in the rooms, only wi-fi access in the lobby.

Some of the rooms in the hotel are in the main building, which also housed the restaurant, bowling alley, fitness center, etc. while other rooms were in smaller building located across the parking lot. Some of the other building had internal hallways to access the rooms while other buildings did not have an internal hallway (which made for some rather loud evenings when people return late at night and park right outside your bedroom).

Compared to other hotels, I was impressed with the breakfast selection, which included a large variety of fresh fruits (watermelon, pineapple and honeydew) along with freshly cooked hard boiled eggs, pastries, and cereals.

While I have stayed in much worse hotels, when I return in July for a business trip, I will book my room at the much newer Holiday Inn Express.

We were 3 and we took the Presidential suite for $159. The room was very very nice, big, very clean facing the pool, jacuzzi in the room. The hotel is close from the entrance of the park. The amenities are good.
Ok, now the bad. I could NOT believe how rude people were there. Front desk persons, bartender, bowling and restaurant employees... what is their problem ? You feel they basically tell you, "give me your $ and get out of my face". And example, we sat at the bar waiting for our dinner table, the bartender passes by us and said, "I don't know when I will have time to serve you" without even looking at us !!! The only pleasant people were the concierge and the check out lady (she was new maybe she didn't know the "code" yet)I would recommend this hotel as long as your not in contact with any of the staff. It's sad !!

“So much nicer than I expected”

Best Western Grand Canyon Squire Inn

Hello. I just came back from 5 weeks in us. We travelled from one side to the other, and had already stayed in some best western hotels.
The hotels we stayed in were fine, comfortable, and worth the price you pay. So when i was told we were staying in best western in grand canyon, i kinda expected the same thing.
I was wrong
This hotel is not like a best western at all
Its a lot bigger than i expected, really friendly stff, nice restaurant and bar, water features, shop..right next to the main town with bars shops, fast food, restaurants.....everything you get in a 3-4 star hotel ( though it is actually a 2 star)
Obviously this kind of hotel would not cater for everyone, because it is not perfect. If you like 5 star hotels, with staff with no personality( like the trump we stayed in in miami) then this would not be for you.
If you are quite easy going, not hard to please, and looking for somewhere nice and clean to stay, this would be perfect foryou :D
Hope this has helped someone
Thanks :D

Walk into the foyeur and the hotel looks like a top end budget hotel. The fountain/waterfall adds to the ambience and this seems like an excellent hotel and it makes you even more apt to paying the $150 per night.
Beware, once paying you are told your room is not actually in this building but is in a complex behond the hotel. Imagine some homeless accomadation. The rooms are too small for midgets, there are no lifts and the rooms are minging.
This is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. I would still have felt i had been robbed if i had paid $1.50 never mind $150.
