“Superb Experience at One of the Natural Wonders”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2011

This place is a country within USA. It was a new knowledge to me that there are independent places controlled by (red) Indians within USA where taxes, ownership etc is with the Indians.

This ranch is just at the edge of the Grand Canyon West. Although we were told that we will find lots of (red) Indians but we could find hardly 2-3 Indians in the ranch rest others were of different nationalities working there. However, the place is excellent.

We reached there in the afternoon and stayed there till next morning around 10 AM. We saw the Grand Canyon in the full glory when the Sun was on the top, when Sun was setting and then when it was rising.

There is a dining room which is open 24 hours. Although in the night one can have only limited items.

Dinner and Breakfast is provided at the Ranch. Enough options for vegetarians.

In the night, one should see the sky full of stars from just behind the room no. 26.

Don't visit the Hualapai Ranch expecting any airs or graces, any bell desk or concierge, room service or valet... Go there to enjoy some good old hospitality, hearty meals, a taste of the old west and experience the native Americans who are only too willing to share their culture and traditions.

My 6 year old son had just visited Disneyland but nothing the famous fun park had to offer compared to the enjoyment he got from becoming Sheriff Steve's deputy and shooting it out with nearly everyone in town! The Ranch put the Canyon in perspective and the Hualapai locals shared their stories generously.

The cabins were quaint and hospitable, not 5 star but head and shoulders above any motel room. Staying just feet from the edge of the canyon and waking to the amazing sunrise just outside the door was nearly as good as sitting around the campfire toasting marshmellows with the other guests who came from far and wide and who each had a story to tell, as did the staff who treated everyone like family, not just guests.

If you have kids or want a romantic getaway... this place just does it

We spent one night at the ranch as it is the only overnight accomidations within 2 hours of the west rim. We arrived mid afternoon at the visitor center. Tickets ate confusing so I recommend researching and understanding all the fees. When I called to book the ranch, they were very good at explaining the legacy fee and what was and was not included in our package. We just had time to visit Guano point which was spectacular! Unlike the south rim, there are no guard rails or walls along the rim, so you can go right to the edge! Guano Point goes out into the canyon so you get almost 360 degree views. We were there at sunset which is the best as it sets behind you as you look out and you can watch the canyon walls change color! They havebig coach buses that take you to the 3 stops-Guano Pt, Eagle Pt with Skywalk and Hualapai ranch. We went back and had dinner. Good BBQ food and great magician to entertain us. Cowboys had a bonfire that night and my kids had so much fun hearing all their crazy stories! They also had smore fixins. The next day, the cowboys taught us how to rope a steer(dummy), throw real horseshoes and use the noose at the hanging station. You can also ride horses along the canyon rim.
They have free coffee, hot cocoa and juice anytime. The trims are cozy, no TV, but beds were decent. We had a queen and 2 twins which worked well for 2 adults and 2 teens. I got up at 7am to watch the sun rise right over the canyon from our cabin front porch. It was a great experience!

My husband and I and four boys had no idea what we were in for when Russ from the Last Stop Diner organised our stay at Hualapai Ranch. Well, we had the best time ever!! The boys had such a great time that they did not want to leave...Being able to stay right there at the West Rim was amazing.....the food was fabulous and as for the camp fire, the boys just loved sitting around listening to Jim play his guitar and roasting marshmallows was a bonus...all the people there were very friendly and we would of loved to stay longer...Thanks for a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE that our boys and ourselves will NEVER forget..... We stayed here as part of our 6-day Super Vacation Tour of LA. We were informed by the tour operator of this "6-star accommodation facility" & were so disappointed by the facade of the cowboy town. The cowboy evening meal needs more improvement, particularly in presentation. Serving sizes could be increased. The beds in the rooms were horribly uncomfortable - the mattresses were so soft & most of us in the tour group woke up with back aches! The air conditioner was so noisy that we all struggled to sleep! The management should seriously be looking into this & please include a HAIR DRYER in the rooms!

Our night at the ranch was great, Swiss-Italians loved it! Personnel and facilities at the Ranch were exceptional. However, as the American family member who organized our adventure it was equally frustrating. i sent a lengthy email to both the Operations and Marketing Mangers detailing all the issues i faced, including double billing on the credit card that took 3 phone calls, 2 emails, and then a face to face confrontation before being resolved. And I have not had the courtesy of a response from either.
If you want an overnight stay, and i do recommend doing so, i suggest you call them, make them explain fully what you are entitled to in each of the too many and overlapping packages they offer. DO NOT MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS THROUGH THEIR WEB PORTAL--IT IS VERY CONFUSING AND HAS NO PROCESSES BEHIND IT TO HANDLE SEAMLESSLY YOUR RESERVATION!

Where do I begin. It was an awesome experience. We arrived at this Ranch on July 31st to stay one night. The road to the Grand Canyon west rim was unpaved for about 20 miles but the drive was exciting. Suggest that you rent a car for this trip. Arrived at the ranch and was greeted by a person named Patrick. He was very accomodating and informed us what we should do and where we should go to obtain tickets to register at this place. Although we did not have the pre-registration tickets, he did give the cottage keys and allowed us to drive directly to the cottage to unload our luggage. Following that we visited the skywalk and Guano Point. Returned to the ranch to have dinner. There was a 'one man' band and the songs he played was lovely, while we had dinner which consisted of either ribs or chicken (bbq) & 2 sides with a chocolate chip cookie. Although the cafetaria board indicates that we have to select two of the 6 sides, they gave us a little of everything. It was just a matter of asking the servers and they were quite accommodating. There were unlimited soft drinks/coffee/tea/hot chocolate etc. The cafetaria is open for unlimited drinks/water 24/7 (which is included in your price) which was great during the time we visted as the weather was hot. Also there was a magician named Chris Magic to entertain you. We did a lot of dancing and learn a few line dancing steps as well.
We woke up early, the next day to see the 'day light' and sunrise which was spectacular from the front porch of your cottage. There are horse driven wagon rides (free) and many other things for you to do (throwing the hatchet; bow/arrow; horseshoe throw etc.) Horseback riding is available for a fee. We felt like cowboys and experienced on how they live. My kids did not want to leave this place. It was a true awesome experience. Check out their website http://www.hualapaitourism.com/
