“Definitely use South Rim”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

First of all, getting to North Rim is difficult and facilities are limited. South Rim offers everything you need. The views are terrific from just about anywhere. There are two free shuttles which take you anywhere except to the east (Desert Point) and of course to the base of the canyon where no one goes except by a very long 2 day hike or by a 2 day mule ride (with reservations made many months in advance).

“A feast for the eyes.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

We were going to go for the day but a friend recommended staying there at least for one night. It was a little pricey but totally worth it. The most amazing sunset we've ever seen. There are a lot of options for everybody. If you want to hike, there are many trails and if you don't there are free buses that take you to different stops with amazing views. It is a place the whole family will enjoy.

“South Rum is great, but North Rim is somehow better ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

The family did 7 NP in 9 days. We hit both GC south and North Rims. The South Rim is very crowded. The hikes are full of folks and it is impossible to find any tranquility. The views are amazing on South Rim. Being able to see the Colorado River is spectacular. It feels like I was looking at a model.

“Crowded”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

Parking difficult in main parking area. Seemed to be more available in further lots. Must take free shuttle to trails/overlook points. Very crowded. Shuttles get packed very fast. May have to wait for next bus.
