“Beautiful setting!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

The check in did not go smoothly. Promised a 3pm check in, but didn't get checked in until after 4pm. But everything else was great. From the bell boys to the waiters, were very friendly and helpful. Absolutely beautiful location and so much to do. Or just relax by the fire and enjoy the view.

The hotel is rustic. Our room was dated, but everything worked properly.
The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful.
There is internet but it is very slow.
We will return for another family vacation in the future.

Stayed two nights at many Glacier Hotel. The hotel will be 100 years old in 2014 and parts of it certainly look like it. Supposedly there is a renovation underway to fix all the mistakes of the last 100 years. If it weren't for the view and location, they could never charge the prices they do for the rooms. No king beds are available so our room was a small double bed and a twin bed. The room had two windows and one of the windows had a hole in the screen that let all of the mosquitos congregate between the closed window and the screen. Armed with my Off bug spray I took care of the dozens of mosquitos in that area and never opened that window again. After killing a bunch more at the next window and securing the screen better we could actually open that window for the fresh air. The bathroom window was next-killed all of them in the bathroom and never opened that window either. When it gets hot, this might be a problem since there is no AC in the building but they have a fan you can use that sits in the corner of the room. Tried to find some ice for drinks. We were on the 4th floor. Was told that the only self service ice machine was on the 2nd floor. Finally found it and it had an out -of -order sign on it. Ended going to the bar with my plastic bag to get ice as others were also wandering around to find ice too. However the main dining room has been renovated and is a nice space. the food was excellent and the service was great. Since the hotel is only open from the first week of June to mid-September, staffing might seem to be a big problem, but all who worked there were very nice. Around the hotel there are many things to do- hiking, horseback riding, and taking a boat from the front of the hotel on Swiftcurrent Lake to Josephine Lake.

Room Tip: Only has one slow elevator for the entire hotel so if you don't want to wait for it and have to...

We stayed at Many Glacier Hotel for 2 nights. We felt that the lodge was expensive for the accommodations, but it is in an excellent location. We ended up getting two twin beds because they were out of queen beds for our preference for a lake view balcony room. The room was dated, sink and bathroom were very old, as well as the furniture. The rooms could have been cleaner. Beds were not very comfortable. Walls were paper thin (we could hear the man snoring next to us). The lodge was obviously very old, but has an interesting history. I would highly recommend getting a lake view room, with a balcony. The views from the balcony are amazing. The sunset over the lake is pretty amazing. If you have binoculars you can see white mountain goats on the mountainside. As well as several moose that live across the lake. However, we had a shared balcony, so seating arrangements at high-peak viewing time (i.e. sunsets) could be difficult sometimes. There are also viewing decks near the lobby if you don't have a balcony. Parking is a bit of a distance from the lodge, and you have to walk up several flights of stairs to your car. Restaurant food quality was average. A bit pricey for what you get. Overall I would recommend this place for the location. If you like staying at old historic inns, then you will probably find this place more charming than we did. If you are on a budget, I would recommend staying at Swiftcurrent Inn right down the street, and making a stop at Many Glacier Hotel to visit.

The hotel itself was clean with beautiful views and good service. I really liked the old pictures of glaciers in the NP that lined the hallway in the lobby.

We had a room on the top floor in the corner under the eaves. A big windy storm was blowing all night and I kept jolting awake, thinking the room had blown away from the building. It was loud and rattling. The room was clean, but basic. I would try to stay toward the center for hotel if I were to return.

Since there aren't many dining options around, you are a little dependent on the hotel (and restaurant at nearby motel) for your meals. By the time we went down at 6pm, there was already at least an hour's wait for a table. Also, we went in September, a week before they shut down, so several items on the menu were sold out for the season.

The best thing about the hotel is its location in Many Glacier, where we saw the most wildlife right down the road in just two days - black bears, female grizzly with cubs, and male grizzly. The area also has beautiful hikes. We only had time for Grinnell Glacier which was stunning, but I already plan to return for other hikes in that area.

My friends and I try to stay inside the National Parks because we feel it gives a better experience. On our trip to Glacier we could not get a room at first at Many Glacier but we called everyday for a cancellation and it paid off. Yes it is old but has such character! The views and location are outstanding. It is also the best place to take a picture of the sunrise, right at the entrance by the bridge. How convenient ! We ate breakfast and dinner there and it was okay. But we were not there for the food. While we were at Glacier we went from "rags to riches", from the cabins to the hotel. We are glad we stayed at the cabins first and would not trade that experience but did enjoy the beauty of this hotel.

This fabulous old rustic hotel has wonderful history as its pedigree. Set in one of the most beautiful mountain valleys in the world. Refurbishing has managed to retain the unique character. One huge and continuing problem is the choice of chefs who can't seem to understand that people come here for the Montana bounty. No rainbow trout or white fish or Angus beef are on the menus. Instead I was served a plate of solidly CLOSED clams! Where ever did those come from?We all know to never serve any but fresh and fully open shell fish. A crying shame with so much natural local bounty at hand.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room in the I refurbished annex. Rooms are large with glorious huge claw foo...
