“Sunset Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

I had to imagine the sunset, but this short quarter mile boardwalk would offer an amazing sun scape to enjoy as it lights up the evening sky with its ebbing light. I arrived near sunset, but alas it was a cloudy day but certainly imagined the sun escaping view across the lengthy vista. Worthy location to get engaged gentleman!

“The place to experience sawgrass prairie”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

No place offers better views and a vista of the vast expansive sawgrass prairie than this stop. t
The parking lot and boardwalk trail are situated on a large teardrop island hammock. However the boardwalk allows you to experience the vast prairie without having to slog. Please note in pictures during the wet season the entire prairie is under water while in March it is nearly all dry. This boardwalk also elevates to treetop height so you can really experience the vastness. If you slog you will do so off the road to this stop and experience it first hand. However, if you don't this trail is really the best place for this experience. It is an easy 1/4 to 1/2 mile trail. The sawgrass prairie is the habitat most associated with the Everglades including the reason for its name. Note there is no restroom here.

“White birds everywhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

I am not sure what kind of birds they were but they are amazing. Several spots on the trail with the large birds in trees and in the water. Really cool scene, we got a lot of awesome pictures.

“Worth seeing, wildlife viewing varies depending on season....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

One of the many ENP elevated "boardwalk" trails. One of the best views of the 'glades --- you come to realize that you are standing in the middle of a giant river, even though (at first glance) it doesn't look like your typical river!

Shorter than most of these hikes, probably one of the easiest for handicapped access.

“River of Grass”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

A very short boardwalk trail to an overlook that gave a wonderful view and understanding of the "river of grass" of the Shark River slough.
