We stayed at the Perch for two nights at the end of June 2005. We were a bit apprehensive after reading previous tripadvisor reviews regarding "lost" reservations.
We booked directly through the Perch website. We re-confirmed several times before arriving and our cabin was there when we arrived. The cabins sleep 4 people (1Q bed and 2 singles). One of the beds was located in a loft only accessible by ladder. Yes, the cabin water pump is noisy but that's just the way it is in the country. Each cabin has its own water pump so you shouldn't be bothered by noise unless someone in your cabin is using the water or flushing the toilet.
Breakfasts were OK consisting of pancakes, biscuits&gravy, and eggs (usually in a large container of omelette, quiche, etc.), and either juice or coffee. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant but the Panorama pizza/pub (also operated by the Perch) is an experience with local musicians playing on some evenings. Just across the creek is another restaurant that also has a nice menu.
The Perch is about 14 miles south of the park entrance.
Don't expect four star accomodations but most of your time will probably be spent in Denali NP anyways. This is not luxury but it is good value considering breakfast is included in the price.
