“North American Safari”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2011

One of the top national park experiences in America. Several bears w cubs, moose, wolf, mountain sheep, reindeer, eagles. Awesome!
And a cliffhanger of a ride! We got to see brilliant fall brush colors at the end of August.

“A privilege to see these sights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2011

Have taken the Tundra Wilderness Tour three times in different years, twice in May and once in September. Once on the early run, twice on the late run. Each tour was very unique in terms of the variety of wildlife seen up close and at a distance. I strongly recommend the late tour in September when there is more likelihood of seeing the aurora borealis in the sky over the park--in May it's like twilight at 2am.

“This is the only way into the park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2011

I rode the bus into the park two days in a row. One day to bike part of the park road and the next day to go on a guided Discovery Hike. The park bus is the easiest way to see the interior of the park. On the first day it was very cool to see all of the landscape and wildlife. On the second day it just seemed like I had been on the bus for a very long time. Some of the passengers on the bus were very annoying but I guess that comes with the territory. I would suggest you choose your bus excursions carefully. I did not ride the bus all the way to Mt. McKinley but I would recommend doing that if you can endure the long bus ride. The bus served its purpose to get me into the park and then I explored on my own from there. If you are going to be in the area for a few days, try to space out the bus rides so you don't tire of being on the bus. If you only have one day to be in the park and you are not into exploring on your own then ride the bus to the end of the road.

Depending on what you want to see this might be a very good and relaxing experience. We saw wild life - Wolves, Bear, Dall Sheep, Caribuo. In addition to that we saw wonderful vistas and most importantly as weather cooperated,Mt McKinley

“Great experience... but do not expect a "safari"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2010

We decided to go for a shuttle bus (hop on - hop off style). Our driver´s name was Wendy and she was just great - very amiable and incredibly goods in spotting the animals: we saw 14 bears, wolves, eagles, caribous, moose - well just everything we wanted to see. We went up to Eielson, which was quite enough for us.
If you do not have the courage to wander around the park on your own, you can sign up for a walk with a ranger - which is free of charge, you just pay the price of the shuttle bus depending on where the walk starts. You have to sign up in the Visitor´s Centre a day ahead - there are usually 2 walks a day with different difficulty.
