“Lived up to the reviews”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We have been very slow in submitting our review but still had to do it. This place lives up to all the expectations created from the positive reviews submitted by its past clientele. Unfortunately we did not get to meet Fritz but Marianne looked after us superbly. We arrived to the aroma of freshly cooked buns and a wonderfully warm reception from Marianne. We stayed in one of the two upstairs guest rooms (both of which have en-suites) and had two windows which exposed the endless terrain of fir trees. The place was spotless and comfortable and the breakfast prepared by Marianne was both delicious and generous. Our two night stay was far too brief and we would not hesitate in recommending it. We hired a car from Anchorage and thoroughly enjoyed having the freedom to stop anywhere we wished. The 10-mile drive from Deneki to the Denali NP entrance was a very easy drive and it was great to escape the other tourists at the end of the day. Our sincere thanks to Marianne who made our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: If you want restaurants, cafes, nightlife, etc. on your doorstep, this place is not for you. If you...

We chose this B & B based on the reviews here and all was confirmed as to its excellence. We traveled independently by train and opted to pay the extra $60 per day to be transported locally to hikes and activities. Marianne was there within a few minutes of our call each and every time. We actually based our entire 2 week Alaska trip on the availability of this B & B. We stayed 4 nights. It provided us with so much: quiet (only one other possible guest), glorious sunrises from our window with mountain views, outstanding fresh homemade gourmet breakfasts, absolute cleanliness, and service to the ultimate degree. Our goal for the trip was to take the Discovery Hikes at Denali National Park, which we did. The wide variance in ending times of these hikes had us worried about hotel shuttle pick ups. It was as if we had a family member in Marianne to call to say we were ready to come "home!" She was always there in a flash with a ready smile and attentive to our every need. A return trip to Alaska would not be complete for us without a stay here, once again!

If you want a little privacy at a beautiful B & B 10 miles south of the park, give Deneki Lakes a try.
Fritz and Marianne are a delightful couple who moved to Alaska 20 years ago and operate a two bedroom B & B with great views and wonderful breakfasts. Some B & B's just serve a continental breakfast but Marianne serves a muticourse breakfast that will make you want to skip lunch...they provided great tips on visiting the park and surrounding area and will make your stay in Denali a memorable one. Five stars for Deneki Lakes !

Room Tip: One room has twin beds and the other a queen...both very comfortable

We spent two nights and could not have asked for better hosts nor accommodations. Marianne & Fritz are great hosts who know the area very well and are very helpful. Marianne's breakfasts should not be missed! The house has two upstairs apartments with crisp cotton sheets and fluffy duvets. Gorgeous views of the mountains.

Room Tip: One room has twin beds; the other has a queen (not sure of the size).

We stayed here for two nights while we visited Denali national park. Our hosts were helpful, attentive and accommodating throughout the planning and duration of our stay. Everything sparkled with cleanliness and the setting in the trees and mountains was gorgeous, especially when the sun put in an appearance. Yummy home cooked breakfasts with home backed goods to take along to the park. A friendly comfortable place to stay away from all the crowds. We took a cruise to Alaska but much preferred organising all of our own private shore excursions and our Denali trip.

We've just returned from our family vacation to Alaska. We've spent two nights at Deneki Lakes B&B and enjoyed every minute! Fritz and Marianne were wonderful hosts and we felt very welcome. The rooms were well appointed, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms very clean. There was a spacious living room that was only used by us and a nice kitchen, where Marianne prepared wonderful meals for us. Especially her self made cereal and bread were delicious! Fritz was kind enough to take us for a walk with the snow shoe and taught us many interesting things about the wild life.

Thank you Marianne and Fritz for all the wonderful memories!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Deneki Lakes B&B for 3 nights. Marianne and Fritz are wonderful hosts and gave us a warm welcome.

Their home is lovely - there are 2 rooms for guests upstairs and they stay downstairs. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed and ensuite. There are no TVs at the property (which is not a bad thing - sorry America but you have too many commercial breaks on your TV channels to make it enjoyable!); however there is free wi-fi which is what we use to find out what's happening around the world.

Marianne's breakfast were wonderful - a lot of thought and effort goes into them and it was always a great way to start the day. In addition, when we had to get to Denali NP early to catch one of the shuttle buses, Marianne made us breakfast at 6.30 am so she is very accommodating to guests to fit with their plans.

Both her and Fritz are very amiable and are happy to offer advise on what to do in the area.

So if you are visiting the Denali Park area, stay at Deneki Lakes B&B for a warm welcome
