“Stovepipe Wells Village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Motel is way more "cozy" than Furnace Creek; low lights at night so you can enjoy the stars; gas station and store across the street; great pool. good restaurant. right by the sand dunes. Nice place to be.

“Tried to get some lunch at the Saloon, gave up and left!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

We went to the saloon for lunch. The place was maybe 1/4 full, but most of the tables had dirty dishes that had not been cleaned up. Sat and sat, no one came out of the back to serve customers for a long time. The lady behind the bar wasn't doing much either. We eventually got some menus, but after 25 minutes, we gave up and left, after repeatedly asking if someone could take our orders for lunch. Completely disorganized staff and management.

“Nice place to camp and eat.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

Getting a campsite was a breeze even on a long weekend. Campsites are nice. Water and Restrooms nearby. Grocery store and restaurants are located right there. Very convenient location to set your base camp at.

“Good restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

I visited Death Valley twice in the last 12 months, one in summer with around 125°F and one in fall with a much better temperature.
I was discouraged to sleep here by a friend who had left the place during the night since the air conditioning was so noisy that he could not sleep and reading other tripadvisors opinions I have to say he was right.
I had a good lunch in the restaurant, where I found good burgers at reasonable price.
Of course if you really want to sleep in DV, then this may be a good place, but both times I was in Las Vegas that is only about two hourse drive away, so my suggestion would be to sleep there or even in closer places (Pathrump) if you plan to go in DV in summer.

“Nice place to stay in the Valley”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

There's not much here to make it a stop, but if you are looking for a place to stay, and you are planning a couple of days in Death Valley, this is a good location. Some rooms have internet and TV. The internet is extremely slow and should not be counted on as it times out a bit. One note is that gas was cheaper here than at Death Valley Junction or Furnace Creek...much cheaper. The General Store is overpriced. The restaurant was more reasonable considering they are the only game in town. Breakfast was buffet, $8 continental, $12 full. Did not eat lunch in the saloon, but had dinner...steak and taco entrees. A little pricey, but less than I expected since are IT at this location.
