“Hot Reception”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

We booked this for the 2nd time as we had stayed in a cabin at the Ranch previously. This time we made a late booking so we stayed in the 2 storey lodgings. Room was great, overlooking the Pool and all amenities close to hand. had a good meal at the '49 er rather than the other more expensive restaurants on site and got some nice classy souvenires at the store. Although they dont have any competition in Death Valley they dont scimp on Service or the rooms, ours was clean and tidy and the air conditioning was very welcome. Nice touch was the balcony with rocking chairs to use. Recommend it!

Room Tip: Book a Cabin if available, although they are a little rustic on the outside they add to the experien...

Our family (all adults) stayed 2 nights at the Furnace Creek Ranch. On our first night we were enroute to Yosemite Park and then a week later, a stopover on our way back to Las Vegas.
We asked for a room which looked out to the golf course, rather than facing the other buildings.
Beautiful rocking chairs on each balcony but the evenings were too hot to sit outside.
The daytime temp was about 118 degrees during both our stays, during the first half of June.

The Ranch is only a 5 -7 minute walk to the Death Valley Visitor Center. If its too hot to walk, the drive is less than a minute. The Visitor Center is the greatest place to spend a cool hour or more during the blazing temperatures of the day. Their interactive displays help you understand the complexity of the desert, and the video in their theater is fantastic.

The Ranch is a 2.5 mile drive to the trailhead to hike the Golden Canyon and Zabriskie Point. The proximity allowed us to start hiking at 6:30am when the temperature was 93 degrees.

Each evening and morning we jumped into the huge pool and swam lengths. The pool is filled with water from an aquifer, such a decadent luxury having a pool in the middle of the desert. The pool is drained several times each week and used to water the golf course. However, we noticed no one was golfing during these high temperatures.

During each of our one-night stays, the rooms were immaculate and a very welcome oasis in huge desert. This was our first visit to Death Valley and we are hoping to return in the future.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the golf course.

There are few pickings in this neck of the woods so you're kind of at their mercy when it comes to prices of food, gas and lodging. The rooms are very nice and staff friendly. There is a store, bar and restaurant but again the prices are very high.

Room Tip: Stop and get snacks before entering the resort.

Wonderful room with the comfiest bed of our trip, lovely location and views and the on site restaurants had great food - I highly recommend staying at the Ranch (if you can stand the heat!).

Great to have a private balcony and the aircon meant we managed a good nights sleep despite the blazing heat.

We stayed at the Furnace Creek Ranch for one night on our way from Yosemite to Las Vegas. The room rate was high, but it was great being able to have an overnight stay in the desert close to all the major attractions of Death Valley. The ranch is just a few moments away from Badwater, Zabriskie Point and Artist's Palette. The check-in and -out were OK, nothing more, nothing less. The room itself was very nice, the bathroom well equipped and very clean. There are also little patios and balconies attached to the rooms. The WiFi and air conditioning worked perfectly. We had a buffet dinner at The Wrangler, which wasn't special, but the breakfast they served there was quite nice. The Borax Museum on site is a nice little place to visit as well. The only let down was that there was not enough parking space near our complex, so we had to walk a long way back to our car. We are happy to recommend the Furnace Creek Ranch for your overnight stay in Death Valley.

We visited Death Valley in the middle of Summer and the day we were there the temperature topped 53degrees. There are two hotels in Furnace Creek and we found that it got so hot in Summer that the inn would close. We stayed at the ranch which had motel style rooms which were individually air conditioned. The rooms we good sizes and they had the cooler on before we arrived which was good.
When taking a shower the water was warm even without turning on the hot water tap because everything there was just so hot.
We went for a dip in the pool which is thermally heated and was around 30 degrees which was still very refreshing in the 50degree weather.
We ate in the restaurant there which had good food and visited the museum on the ranch and the gift shop.
I loved it.

Room Tip: If you are going in summer then get a room as close to the car park as possible as you have to park...

We stayed at the Ranch during June. Given this hotel is in the middle of the desert and has a number of climate related challenges it's fabulous!
The rooms were lovely (and air-conditioned), the food and facilities were good and parking was provided.
We'd definitely stay again.
