My husband, in-laws and I stayed at Stovepipe Wells Village for one night in late October. My in-laws had a patio room. It was a little small with a double bed and didn't have a tv, but they said it was comfortable. My husband and I had a deluxe room. We had a large bed (king maybe?) and a tv. The decor was similar to a standard roadside motel. The ac was loud, but it was cool enough outside that we didn't need it at night. There were lots of beetle-like bugs outside and a couple made it into the room, but aside from that the rooms were clean. The rooms are nonsmoking and unlike a lot of nonsmoking rooms in Nevada there wasn't even a hint of smoke. There is free wireless internet in the clubhouse area as well as a tv for those who didn't have one in their room. We didn't use the pool, but it looked clean. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and both were very good and we had good service.

The best part of our stay was driving down the road a ways and looking at the stars in complete silence. Sunrise and sunset were gorgeous as well. This hotel may be more expensive than usual for this type of accomodation, but it was worth it for the location.

Being in the middle of the desert we were not expecting luxury but $130 for a 'deluxe' room with a blocked toilet, scratchy sheets and ridiculously loud air con was a bit of a joke. More of a joke was the meal in the diner. The service was awful and extremely slow (the couple next to us didn't get their order taken for 45 mins!), when we chased up our drinks order after 20 mins the waitress told us we would have to speak to our specific server but wouldn't get him for us, we just had to wait till he came out! We gave up and eventually went to the bar next door where they were sitting on the side and picked them up ourselves.

The food itself was terrible too and on top of that cold. Paying the bill was a challenge as the waiter only came out every 1/2 hour (remember we had to wait for our specific waiter). People were getting up and refusing to wait around to pay - the couple next to us were told, 'I can see if I can get your waiter but I can't promise he'll come out right now.....'

All in all a terrible hotel in a great location.

The staff were great at the Stovepipe Wells motel - really friendly and chatty, which made our stay there wonderful. Rooms were basic but comfortable and while the air conditioning was noisy, in plus 40 centrigrade heat we're not about to complain. The pool complex was also basic but very nice and great for a late night dip. The pool facility was very clean despite the late hour (10pm plus). We also ate at the restaurant which had a good array of food although watch out for the garlic quotient and the breakfast buffet was filling. The bar was nice - although understandably quiet even for a Friday afternoon - and had a pool table.

Not the cleanest place we've ever stayed. At least the bugs were dead. Lady at the desk was very nice. I know it's rustic at Death Valley, but we had stayed at Furnace Creek Ranch and it was much nicer. Book in advance!!

My wife and I were touring California and were on a fly drive. We stopped 1 night at Stovepipe Wells Village on our way through Death Valley. Let me tell you straight off, it is not a big town, it is a small village, with 1 shop, 1 Bar, 1 Diner *connected to the "Saloon" as they call it, but it does have a pool table. Having said that it has a super pool and is clean and the staff (which I assume it is family run) are very friendly and accommodating. We bought a few items from the shop and had a great meal in the diner. The breakfast is extra in the morning, I was told by many people that it is much nicer than Furnace Creek, which is the only other place to stay in Death Valley. The Room was very comfortable with two double beds and a TV, coffee making facilities. The beds are soft, and the walls were quite thick, as we didn't hear anyone in adjoining rooms. The main plus of this accommodation (cant really call it a hotel, see the pictures I have put in this review) is that the view is outstanding, it is right in the middle of Death Valley, not far from Zabriski Point, with mountains and sand dunes and well as Salt Plains in all directions. Well worth I visit. It does cost 20 USD as you enter Death Valley, so make sure you have some change. We had quite a laugh with the locals they ask you if you want a starter with your meal, if you say yes, they say Super Salad, which actually mean Soup or Salad, not a big Size Salad, maybe it was my interpretation of it, that aside a great stay, and recommended as something different other than your high rise Hotels, Stovepipe Wells for us, excellent.
