I have been to over forty US National Parks and not been back to Crater Lake since I was ten. I remembered how nice it was then but no picture or travel writer can do this place justice. You just have to go there and see for yourself. Make sure you go on a boat tour (season just ended 9/15) as well as along the rim. It is also a good idea to catch the crater in different light such as sunrise and sunset as it makes it that much more incredible. We wanted to stay near the park so we booked a room way in advance at the Mazama Village. You will never see such a beautiful blue color in your life as the water in the crater.
