“good steak but no vegetables”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We've eaten there a la carte (not the buffet). The steaks were good, however we were surprised to hear that they ran out of vegetables. As such, only average as atmosphere and service were so so as well.

“Not great...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

Buffet is cold. Ribs, chicken and fish, dry and hard. I saw a staff member filling up the potato salad from a bucket of Reese's potato salad, so certainly not home made. Not much variety. The staff that seats you are not very friendly, although we did find the waitress attentive. The only good thing is it is close to the Ruby Inn and if you are staying there its convenient after a long day of hiking. Would go elsewhere, even if I had to travel farther....

“If only we'd come a few days later”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

We were at Bryce just days prior to the lodge opening. Had it been open -- we would have been able to eat at the lodge's restaurant inside the park - which we'd heard was good.

Ruby's Buffet was pretty bad -- but it was basically the only option in the immediate area. Clearly they know that and choose to serve very mediocre food to a relatively captive audience.

“Pleased with both meals we had”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

We visited Bryce Canyon at a great time, early spring which means most of Bryce Canyon City was asleep. None of the shops on Main Street were open other than the lodges, gas station and Ruby's Inn stores.

Our accomodation didn't provide miicrowave oovens for TV dinners so we initially were reluctant to dine at this establishment but since we had little choice, we made the best of it. Our first dinner we had ribs to share between 2 of us, and a basket of bread that we left 1 of (and took for breakfast the next day.) The ribs have been the best I have tasted this trip through the parks of Utah. Since we had just enough for dinner, we had space for the Five fruit pie ala mode. Altogether the satisfactory meal cost us $28 including tips and we were both full and happy that we deided to come back the next day.

Our second meal, we had a 12oz steak between two of us, again more than sufficient for our bellies. The steak was medium - just the way we wanted and it came quickly much to the deligght of our hungry stomachs after a hard day's hike. This time we had apple pie ala mode for dessert. The meal came up to $39 for both of us including tips.

These meals have been more satisfactory in terms of price and taste than other places in the bigger cities we've passed - which was totally surprising. The service is also pretty good.

Tip:
The restaurant serves buffet for $18.99 with a large spread of food that sits there for awhile. It really makes more sense to order a large order of fresh meal to divvy between two.

“Lousy food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The buffet was limited, the food did not taste very good. I wondered how any restaurant could screw up a salad bar but they did. Try to find another restaurant. The only redeeming thing was that it was next to the motel.
