“Worth the drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

Most travelers to Acadia spend most of their time of the main Park Loop Road, which is understandable. But if you are spending more time in the area, take a little time to go over to the Schoodic and drive, bike, or walk "off the beaten path." Very scenic and peaceful.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

Easy drive from Desert Island, worth the drive. We were able to park our motorhome right next to the ocean for lunch. What a view.

“Winter Harbor, Grindstone, and more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

Winter Harbor is a quaint little town with a good restaurant (Fisherman Inn) and some other eateries. Nice old 5&10 type store; numerous artist offerings. Grindstone has an old golf course with some great views, some impressive houses on The Neck, and some great spots for picnicking on the shore (end of Grindstone Ave for one). And it is the gateway to Schoodic Point. Check out the old stone UU Church - interesting architecture and the parishioners hauled all the stones.

“Beautiful in the Morning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

We drove over in the early morning to visit Schoodic Peninsula and to get a stamp for me. We were there to see the tide going out. It was beautiful! We walked out on to the rocks and took in the views and the smell of the pines. It has the rocks, the shoreline, the lighthouse you came to see without the people. Most people never visit this section of Acadia National Park, which is great for us (though terrible of them).

“Rocky Shores, Less crowded”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

A less-crowded area of Acadia NP provides gorgeous views of Maine's craggy granite coast and some nice interpretive signs of the area's geological history. Nearby Winter Harbor has a couple of nice places to stop for lunch on the way to or from Schoodic Point.
