“Lovely afternoon tea for 4”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

If you are looking for a delicious afternoon tea, then we highly recommend the main hotel. We were in the bar area on some comfy couches overlooking the back garden and found the setting very relaxed. The food was delivered in traditional style but with a delicious updated twist on ingredients. We especially loved the orange curd and the lemon posset with toffee popcorn, fantastic! The only downside was the noise level of the bar area was at times quite loud from the clanking of dishes to the steamer on the coffee machine however the staff was super and checked upon us often. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon.

Very good spa facilites. The outside hot tub was great!!
Again the restaurant was top quality. We dined on a sunday, just a shame there was no a la carte menu available. Service was very attentive and made the evening 'special'.
The room let the hotel down slightly. Light bulbs out. Wonky mirror. Lack of plug sockets for charging mobile phone and the shower was very hard to engage.
Overall we had a fantastic stay, if the rooms were a bit nicer it would definantly be worthy of a 5* review.

We stayed 2 nights at the hotel for our son's wedding. We were greeted by the reception staff who were most helpful and very friendly. The room was quiet but does need some updating. The wedding venue is excellent. The staff especially David were excellent. It was extremely well organised by David and his team who made sure eveything went like clockwork. If anyone is looking for a lovely venue for a wedding I would highly recommend it. Everyone commented on how lovely it all looked. the wedding food was lovely and cooked to perfection.
The breakfast was lovely with a great selection of food.
Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use the spa but the pool and area looked fab.

This is a really good value hotel that offers really good food from the bar, restaurant and also for breakfast. Staff are good and very friendly in both the hotel and the spa. The spa is great and is very relaxing if you're on a work trip. the rooms do need updating and it seems like this is progress. Will be a great hotel when it's finished.

I stayed a night at Thornton hall with my partner. The hotel was fantastic. From the moment you book in, the reception staff were brilliant, so friendly and informative. The rooms were very well appointed. We spent the afternoon on the patio area and the evening in the Lawns restaurant which was outstanding. The breakfast was really nice and plenty of it. I wouldn't think twice about staying here again

was a good night ,good music good act, stayed the night, the evening meal was very nice, but the main meal was more like a childs portion, i had chicken and mash, the mash was a very small portion ,and i thought the room was overpriced, £55 each , when it was advertised for £35, when you attended the tribute, a little more food would have been nice, however the breakfast was 5 star *****, , top breakfast, and boy ya need it after the evening meal, not sure if the night was worth £180

Stayed here for the second time on the 17th Feburary 2013. The first time was brilliant, but this was even better! We booked the same package - spa treatment, dinner, bed and breakfast for just £95.00. When we arrived, we were told we had to wait until 2pm for our rooms to be ready. However, this didn't matter as we were able to enjoy the swimming pool facilities, including a hot tub and jacuzzi. Even though it was quite cold outside, we all still managed to use the outdoor hottub.
The food at the Lawns restaurant is lovely, but the best thing about the hotel is the staff. Every single member of staff was really helpful and friendly, especially the spa receptionist (long blonde hair - can't remember her name) who greeted us with a huge smile and helped us with any queries we had.
Overall, it was a great stay and I can't recommend this hotel enough.
