Excot is a simple and attractive day out which is not overly commercial. £29 for a Family of four. There are Birds of prey and two daily fBird flights and you can also hold the Birds. There are Otters, Guines Pigs, Red Squirrels, an Arboretum, Wetlands, an Aquatic centre and a Stone age village. There are activities available which constantly change (Archery, off road segways, Bush skills etc).
There is a Maze which is genuinely challenging and has gates which are used to change the cinfiguration of the Maze. I think it must have taken us an hour to get to the middle - that is a barometer of how good the maze is in my book.
Throughout the Arboretum are rope swings, Play areas and even a Death slide! It is all tastefully done with not a hint of tackiness.
The Restaurant serves good food, which is not overpriced.
An annual membership is available which is around £80, with your £29 taken off if you buy on the day. We spent all day at escot and did not manage to do everything so we bought a membership.
The shop shuts at 5pm, however they stayed open to process our membership even though it was nearly 6pm.
I got a real sense of Escot's commitment to nature and wildlife without the sense of commercialism.
And most importantly - the kids loved it !!
