“Can't wait to get back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2010

I recently surprised my partner with a night at the Escarpment, and we were both blown away by how amazing it was! From the moment we drove through the gates and saw the beautiful and tranquil gardens we relaxed. We were greeted by Gary who went out of his way to accommodate us and give plenty of options for places to go for lunch, wineries, walks...
Our room was modern but cosy, with a gorgeous 4 poster bed, deep spa, kitchentte, private balcony and log fire (with plenty of wood). There were plenty of little touches as well, like candles, a mini bar, fluffy robes and a DVD library.
We also took advantage of the in-house dining which was amazing. Dinner was delivered to our door in 'tiffins', which kept the food lovely and hot and incredibly delicious. With the fire going, a bottle of wine, and a great movie, we were in heaven!
Breakfast the next morning exceeded all expectations, with a great choice of meal on top of a buffet with fruit and cereals etc. It was the best breakfast I've had in a long time!
Overall this was the perfect retreat, and we both can't wait to get back here. It was cosy, romantic, tranquil and private, with plenty to do on the mountain if you decide to venture out.

My partner and I couldn't have wished for a better place to stay in the Mt Tamborine region than The Escarpment. Driving in gave a very tranquil first impression of the property and Gary and Carolynne made us feel so welcome with a glass of bubbles a lot of suggestions on things to help us enjoy our visit to the area. The rooms were simply amazing with huge ceilings, a very comfortable bed and a beautiful spa in the bathroom with a secluded view to the rainforest. Our stay also included a lovely choice of breakfast. Highly recommended for a getaway to this gorgeous region The Escarpment exceeded our expectations by a long way.

The Escarpment has it all....
For the last 2 years my partner and i have romanced each other with 5 star accomodation, retreats, lodges, all types of getaways.
To do this we are always searching the internet for the perfect place to stay. A place that has atmosphere, character & is romantic.
We have found it difficult at times to find these types of places without going over board and spending crazy amounts of money for one or two nights.
18 months ago we came across the Escarpment retreat....We chose to celebrate our 6 month anniversary with them.
Our romantic getaway started with a beautiful drive through the hinterland & lush green scenary of mountains. You truly do feel like you are escaping the outside world & leaving all stress behind you...
On arrival we were greeted by the owner. He is a very warm & friendly man who truly does care about your experience at the Escarpment.
We were then shown to the room & i remember being blown away & both of us being so happy. It was so romantic & modern.
There is a large 4 poster bed, 2 seater couch, fireplace, stereo, tv, mini fridge, sink, outdoor patio, large shower & the most awsome corner spa you could want.
We did have plans to head out , do some sight seeing & go out for dinner....but that all changed when we checked into the Escarpment.. the room & faciliteis were so lovely we didn't want to go anywhere else.
From this stay i then recommended the Escarpment to my friends, they loved it too.
Now 18 months later my partner proposed to me & took me to the Escarpment for our 2 year anniversary. Yipee!!!
My experience this time round was exactly the same as the first.
We were greeted by the same man, he makes you feel so welcome & is very helpful.
This time we stayed in a different room, the room was just as lovely as the first, same type of set up, big 4 poster bed & spa etc..
It was only a matter of minutes & we were in the best spa bath again...
After heading out for dinner in a nearby restraunt we decided to utilise the newly added cinema room. They have a variety of packages available for a small fee. We highly recommend this.
Once again we only stayed a night but we can't wait to go back again for our next anniversary in 6 months time..
All in all i think its a beautiful place to stay, total privacy, and a great romantic getaway.
I Give the Escarpement a 9.5 out of 10 and i am an ex travel agent..
Give it a go its well worth the money...

Regards Leanne

My husband and I have just returned from 1 night at the Escarpment. Everything is there to make it a luxury get away except for one thing. The cleanliness of the rooms and lounge area. The drive in to the property is very nice and the grounds are lovely and kept in good condition.
The room we had was well furnished and large although a little on the dark side, maybe this is so we couldn't see the cobwebs and dust. There were cobwebs on some of the furniture, on the ceiling and wherever else spiders could get. In the bathroom I counted 7 spiders on the ceiling as well as one in the spa bath. The grout in the shower was all mouldy and the back of the door had been splashed with something and had also gone mouldy. There were two magazines in the room to read. One was from Dec/Jan 05/06 and the other was Oct 09. When paying for luxury accomodation I would have thought up to date magazines would be available. Even in cheaper accomodation there are usually recent magazines to read. The cups and mugs had coffee and tea stains in them. Also the glass in the windows looked as though it had not been cleaned for some time and there were cobwebs around the windows. This was also repeated in the guest lounge area - cobwebs on furniture, dirty windows as well as a few dead moths lying around on the floor.
The breakfast we had was very nice although my husbands poached eggs were overdone and hard. There was plenty to eat with fruit juice, tea and coffee, cereals and fresh fruit also available.
It would not take much to make this into the luxury accomodation that it is reported to be. As I said everything is there it just needs a very good clean. We won't be going back.

My husband and I went to the Escarpment to relax. We certainly did that! The rooms were delightful, spaceous and best of all peaceful. Perhaps the most wonderful part of the room was the bathroom which had a huge spa bath overlooking a private garden. It was the perfect place to pop open the bottle of French champagne included in our package and enjoy the bubbles. The manager, Carolyn, cooks a lovely breakfast and we didn't really feel the need to eat again until well into the afternoon. The Escarpment trully was a wonderful place to stay. There is plenty to do in the area, such as hike and tour the wineries. You will need your own transport though.

I would thoroughly recommend the Escarpment to anyone wanting to relax and get away from all the busy-ness of life. Even though the Escarpment has the lovely feel of being away from all the hussle bussle of the mountain and the city it is still very close to shops restaurants and other facilities needed on a break away. Being able to have a massage arranged for you and not leave this facility was for me heaven. Being able to have your meals delivered to your room was perfect. If you are wanting total peace and quiet to rejevonate then The Escarpmewhen is for you. Total tranquity.

Beautiful room with a lovely comfortable sofa that let us relax in front of the log fire enjoying a good film (from their DVD library). Only a TV, but a good sound system created the atmosphere we needed.
