“Consider Naseby for a rail trail night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We were collected from Wedderburn by our friendly hosts and whisked down the road to the pretty town of Naseby.
Naseby Lodge is an attractive set of buildings just round the corner from the historic town centre. Our room was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the convenience of having a restaurant on site.
Naseby seemed to have more apres cycling options available than Wedderburn.bHead down the road to the curling rink before dinner for a fun few hours or go for a walk in the trails behind the town.

Excellent accommodation and the evening meal was great after a long day however again the breakfast was disappointing but having said that they gave us 2 eggs to help start the day so all good would stay again
It is worth the side trip to go to the indoor curling

Spacious apartment like immaculate - lovely place to stay - comfy beds - only suggestions - sky tv would be nice - additional tv in main bedroom -and a privacy lock or latch on the bathroom door - more bench space in bathroom- like I said only suggestions - it was a really fantastic accommodation - wish more places were up to this high standard -

We stayed here for 3 nights over the weekend for the Naseby ultramarathon and cannot speak highly enough of the hospitality, service and quality of the food in the restaurant. This is the second year we've stayed and booked in again for next year.

Naseby is a quaint little place (population 80) with a huge history and character: we love coming up here. We usually rent a draughty old crib but when we decided to visit in winter plumped for the lodge - the thought of the crib's outside toilet in the snow was too much! The Lodge was great run by a very friendly couple. We had the two bedroom unit which was super comfortable - the beds were fantastic (so good we accidentally slept in on the morning we were leaving and only woke up when the owners rang us around 11am - sorry about that but a testament to the great beds :)) The on site restaurant is a gem - despite Naseby's size the food is as good as anything you would find in a big city. No snow whilst we were there (it came 3 days later) but despite or because of that we had a great time. Will definately be back.

Room Tip: If travelling with a family go for the two bedroom apartment which is spacious and relaxing.

My husband and I were part of the Slow Spokes group that stayed at The Naseby Lodge accommodation recently while biking the Otago Rail Trail. Our host, Peter, greeted our group from the Ranfurly Railway Station and transported us to the Lodge for one night's accommodation. We were all most impressed with the complex made of local mud clay bricks and window frames from trees grown in the Naseby Black Forest and even more impressed with the well equipped, spacious, warm, clean bedrooms and living areas. Highly recommend staying at this facility.

The Trail Lodge is new with a rustic build. We have stayed here before and it is perfect. Very clean well equipped with large bedroom and bathroom facilities. The Restaurant has only been open with a bar licence for about a year. We dined and found it full of rail trail cyclists. The food was great we had Lamb Shanks and so did the majority of the other diners, Perfect comfort food for weary bodies. Lovely selection of good Otago wines. Fantastic stay thank-you we will be back.

Room Tip: They are all good.
