“Great food, great wine and great people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Just come back from a weekend in Lulworth. We found this bar during a down pour and I'm glad we did. Great people, a lovely relaxed atmosphere, decent wine and a lovely meal.

I had the sea bass with risotto, followed by a shared cheese board which was great. The staff were really friendly and fun. We will stay here next time if we can - probably more of an adult venue than suitable for children so book the grandparents and head there for a weekend off.

“An intimate retreat in a beautiful setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

I spent a few nights in the Bishops Hotel, Lulworth Cove, just this week (23/24/25 July 2013). I couldn't have chosen better. The 'hotel' (I use inverted commas, as they only have three rooms!) is gorgeously intimate - incredible, given its prime location: about five footsteps away from the beach itself. The rooms are superbly furnished, fabulously comfortable, and with terrific rainfall-style showers - perfect after a day's walking/swimming. The Bishops Bar is also a superb place to relax (whether you're staying in the hotel or not) - the beers and wines are chilled to perfection, and the staff all have a friendly smile and a lovely welcome.
Oh - and then there's the food. I'm not a foodie 'per se', but the meals here are really something else. The fish is freshly caught and simply cooked, and the service is impeccable - not surprising, as the chef insists on a 15-minute interval between all diners, so he can cook each order to perfection.
What more can I say? Shall I tell you about the breakfasts? Better not - think you should experience them for yourself.
One remaining feature - the outdoor pool. Imagine being the only person swimming in a huge, ice-cool pool at 8am, with views out over the whole cove. The word 'magical' springs to mind.

“Nice food, service was a little haphazard!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

Lovely little resturant but understand it may not have been on top form the weekend we were there! Food was good, nice to see seafood all over the menu! Our Scallops were wrapped in bacon not pancetta but none the less prawns were lovely for starter... for mains we had Seabass - was delicious even if the fish was a little overdone... all in all we had a nice time and would like to come back with the owners back in business!!

“Rustic easy paced lovely food..............”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Female chef provided excellent meal and actually came and spoke to customers, discussed menu and one of the dishes in detail. As previously described there is not a large menu but there is, is very tasty. Fish was excellent particularly the crab spaghetti. Easy ambience seated at the picture window, pleasant pre drink meal without being hassled. Thoroughly enjoyable evening in a beautiful area. There is more to come here, was able to see the refurbished rooms and a lot of thought has gone into them. Worth a visit. Vivienne and Kevin Suffolk

It is so nice to see a name on a review. Thank you it makes your comments personal, helpful and we can put a face to a name. Liesl loves to come out and talk to customers and get personal feedback. It can be a little disembodied in the kitchen. Thank you for your kind words. Philip and Liesl

What a fantastic restaurant. Must be the best in Dorset. Amazing fish and the atmosphere and surroundings just have to be experienced. We will come here as often as we are in the area. Cannot be more complimentary if we tried.. Scallops, lobster, crab, ... yummy yum !:)
