“Stunning location, great food and a home from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Spent a few days here with my wife as part of our honeymoon trip - I'd been with my family a few years before. The location is incredible, with stunning views and lots of great mountain walking within easy reach (even by bus, if you like).

The rooms are simple and rustic in style but perfectly roomy and comfortable, and we had a lovely little balcony and a great bathroom in the "face aux dents" suite. There's a homely living room to relax in with amazing picture windows, games and books.

The demi-pension is strongly recommended - the owners prepare a wonderful three-course meal every night, beautifully cooked and not too heavy, and you won't mind at all that there's no choice. The wines are local and expensive, but very good. They will even prepare picnic lunches for a very reasonable extra charge.

I cannot recommend this hotel strongly enough. It may seem expensive but you won't need to spend a penny while you're there, and you can experience a very beautiful (and less crowded) part of the Alps in simple comfort while feeling at home and eating well.

This superb hotel was one of the highlights of the Haute Route. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic and beautifully presented. Our room without a bathroom was a little cramped but we didn't spend much time in there as the lounge room was very inviting. A range of seating was very comfortable and cosy, surrounded by windows with great views. Our room had a small balcony with fantastic views of the alps. Don't miss this historic hotel in a lovely quiet location.

Room Tip: The rooms with a private bathroom are much more spacious than those without. The upper florrs have t...

OMG. This hotel is amazing. we stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed every moment. The great food cooked by the owner, the great hospitality and service by his wife. The hamam room, the movie room (even though we watch skyfall - which is a crappy movie) and best of all the view from the lounge room were we rest, read books and play some chess.

Pinuk!

This hotel is very clean, simple and comfortable. Our room was spacious with a very nice, recently remodeled, large bathroom. (with a nice large tub/shower and great water) Beautiful mountain views from all the windows and balcony. No television in the rooms but there is free wifi. Owners Prittee and Nat are very friendly, intelligent, helpful, available and hospitable. Whatever questions or requests we had they fulfilled. The hotel is unusual in that both breakfast and dinner is included in the basic room rate. Dinner is cooked each evening by Nat and served promptly at 7pm. You must let them know in the morning if you will be joining for dinner. The menu, which is just one set menu each night, is available then. If you don't choose to have dinner, a set amount will be deducted from your room rate. We ate dinner at the hotel on two of the five nights we stayed and both evenings it was delicious and the service was good. We would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Choose a room on the "view" side with a balcony. All the windows open and it's nice to...

Superb food, simple and clean accommodation, friendly owners and one hell of a view of the alps!
Best food on the Haute Route! I would definitely recommend the place!
La Sage is very quiet, but makes a good stopover on the Haute Route or as base for some superb walking in the surrounding mountains.

We planned to stay at the Hotel de la Sage for one night while on the Chamonix-Zermatt hike. But ended up extending our stay for one more night to enjoy the hotel. Amazing atmosphere and food and hospitable owners made our stay very memorable.

Room Tip: Enjoy the library/living room!

Loved the spacious room, and especially the big deep tub after a long day hiking. Lovely lounging rooms too should you want to spend an extra night. The large "plein sud" rooms with balcony are unusually spacious for this part of the world.
