“Wonderful food. Good value, great atmosphere & service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Went here for a Saturday evening meal. Suggest you book in advance as it was very busy with a great buzzy atmosphere and I imagine they will get busier during the summer season.
I had whitebait to start, and my husband had pate - both excellent and good portions. For mains, I had local sausages and mash and my husband had haddock. Wow - really well cooked and very generous portions. Unfortunately, we were then so full we couldn't manage puddings, which looked really lovely too. Lots of choice on the menu with daily specials.
The service is very friendly and efficient, food great and really good value for the quality and portions you get.
Would highly recommend this as a place to eat if you're in the area.

We loved staying at the Swan, we've been a couple of times and had the large double which is spacious and has a super bathroom. All the rooms are modern in style. The Swan also put up various friends for our wedding and the friendly team were very helpful and flexible with the arrangements. The food is excellent, in particular the crab starter and the Sunday lunches. Good selection of very reasonably priced wines as well. We'll be back!

We stayed for 2 nights in February Our room was clean and a very comfortable with a lovely big shower in the ensuite. We ate here on our first night the food was wonderful we had trouble choosing what to have from a varied menu but our party of 6 all enjoyed the choices we made
Good food and fresh vegetables with delicious desserts.
The big breakfasts set us up for the day. The staff made us very welcome and nothing was to much trouble. A good base to set out from when visiting this part of Devon We look forward to visiting again

We had a great Sunday Lunch at The Swan on 20th January. There was a choice of pork or beef alongside their normal menu. Between us we tried both roasts and the oxtail with black pudding mash. The quality was excellent, with great flavours and the portions were really generous. The puddings didn't disappoint either and provided a great finish to a top notch meal. Would definitely recommend a visit.

You know when a some where's good and well priced when you don't bother to cook at home! I went to Bampton for a week over Christmas and the only 2 days I didn't eat at the Swan were Christmas Day and the 27th when I left before it opened! Every meal was cooked to perfection including the Ox cheek which was a true delight. Not only this but the service was great and the atmosphere served well to stay and enjoy some lovely wine.
I feel after only being reopened in the last year the Swan will become a name to look out for in the South West!

A fantastic place to drink, eat and stay all for a great price.

Food is amazing, appropriate size portions not too much or too little.

A great wide choice of drinks including real guest ales and premium lagers such as peroni on tap.

Now for the rooms well one word to say about them Amazing with a capital A, super size, with great en-suites, top accommodation.

All staff are well mannered, polite and nothing is too much trouble, super customer service.

All in all an A star place to eat, drink and stay. ;)

Visiting Devon from New York, we went for Sunday lunch to the Swan with some old friends who live nearby. Living in a great city like New York we eat in some of the best restaurants in the world. So imagine our surprise and delight to discover this charming and original pub/hotel which has been cleverly renovated, feeling spacious but not stark. The menu was a great cross between traditional and innovative. The crab salad to start was absolutely fresh and spiked with lime - delicious! As was the prawn cocktail. We followed with the Sunday roast special, some had beef and some pork. Just right, and when we asked for apple sauce it came promptly with a smile. Sadly, we were in a hurry (to escape the impending Devon floods!) so had to forego pudding, but we'll be back! Even if it takes a trans-atlantic flight.
