We chose to stay at Pacific Blue because it was mentioned in the East Coast Australia Lonely Planet guide. Overall we were quite disappointed with the apartments. The cost was $200 a night for 3 nights.
On previous trips to the Noosa area we have stayed at Noosa Sound Resort which has spacious split-level 2 bedroom apartments with laundry facilities within the apartment and a great pool - all for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, having an extra adult with us (our neice from the UK) Noosa Sound was not able to accommodate us and we looked elsewhere.
In contrast, Pacific Blue apartments are very small, with a kitchenette, small eating/sitting area, bathroom and 2 bedrooms (one double, two singles). Our youngest daughter slept on a portable bed in our room which we had to make up ourselves. The kitchen and bathroom could do with updating and there was only a communal laundry with a coin-operated washing machine and no dryer (which would have been handy when the torrential rain doused my almost dry washing on the line!)
Dotted around the apartment, stuck to the wall, fridge etc. was a series of notices informing guests of the penalties for not leaving the apartment in a clean condition, using the air con at below 24 degrees (apparently this would cause the pipes to freeze??!) and other offences. I understand that this probably reflects the sort of problems that the owners have had in the past, but it wasn't very welcoming.
The son (?) of the owner was also not very welcoming. We had an issue one night when we went out for dinner and returned to find water flooding through the back door. In fairness, the torrential rain could not have been anticipated, but the absence of a weather bar on the back door didn't help. We rang the reception bell a number of times (standing in the pouring rain) but got no answer despite the lights being on and someone clearly being in. My husband located the emergency phone number and spoke to the owner. Her partner had been in an accident and so she was understandably otherwise engaged but contacted her son (who was on duty) and he came over with some fresh towels (we had used our towels to soak up the water when the mop couldn't cope). He apologised for the inconvenience but did not come in to look at the problem and did not offer to help. He offered us a reimbursement for one night or to "pay for our dinner" but when we checked out (we had pre-paid when we arrived) there was no mention of this.
All-in-all a bit disappointing. We won't be back.
