“Wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2011

Some time ago we return from Terra Luna, and the place is really wonderful. It wasreally a very pleasant experience, which fulfilled all our expectations and even exceeded in some areas, particularly with respect to the human and professional qualities of ALL people working in the Lodge.
San Lorenzo Cabin is truly welcoming, appropriate size for a family of 4, with a Spectacular view of Lake General Carrera, and with the necessary equipment for those who for various reasons prefer to prepare your own food ... I still remember how pleasant it was to arrive mid-afternoon, after a day of hiking in the rain and find a fire burning .. all set to take a refreshing dip and then go to the main lodge for dinner watching the sunset, drinking a glass of good Chilean wine ...
To assess the food offered by the lodge (value for money) should be considered that the lodge is located far away from major urbann centers, the variety of choices and food availability is rather limited and prices market are very high. After considering these factors I can say that the option of purchasing food at the lodge is very convenient because the quality of it is in very good relationship with the price paid.
Finally, I recommend performing at least one of the many tours offered in the Lodge. With my family made the expedition to the glacier lions, where we met really great places. One point to note is that these tuors are guided by the owner of the Lodge, who has a vast and verifiable experience in all types of activities outdors and offers all the equipment and logistics required for each issue according to the degree of difficulty chosen.
summarizing, Terra Luna Lodge offers all the facilities to take a break really different, in a amazing place, at a fair price and high quality care. Highly recommended

It sounded like paradise - individual bungalows spread out over a hillside looking over Lago General Carrera. The landscape and view really is spectacular.
Only the Jacuzzi Bungalow was not what we had expected. First they told us that the Jacuzzi did not work - this is the main attraction of the small wooden bungalow. No bathroom, instead a seperate toilet of the living room, the shower separated from the bedroom by a curtain and a tiny washbowl in the bedroom. Please pay attention stepping on the porch for the really great view - several boards are rotted.
The former living room was filled completely with a large round jacuzzi in the floor, leaving about 30cm space to navigate around on the way to the bedroom. The jacuzzi was dirty, the water does not empty completely leaving a little pool that dried up leaving several dead spiders and hairs of the last guests behind. This and some spiderwebs made the whole thing a disgusting task to clean. When I finally finished and we opened the tap to fill the tub at least for a bath there was only a trickle of hot water. It would have taken hours to fill up the three person tub. At this point we were filled up. We stayed only for one night, otherwise I would have left this hotel immediately. The price and the website let us expect more. On our travel we also lodged in Hostals with small rooms and simple bathrooms. But these did not try to be more then just an accomodation, they cost less and they were always clean.
On our complaint nobody showed a bad conscience for the lack of cleanliness and "the water pressure would naturally be low as this bungalow is the furthest up on the hill".
As we were really in a bad mood we were finally offered a free drink and dinner. The dinner was good and apaised us a little.

We got in contact with the avisor and you will find below a resume of our talks. The point is that this person just arrived days before we started the complete remodelation of the Jacuzzi bungalow, which is now one of our best rooms!!! I send him pictures of the new cabin (see answer and new advisors comments), so comment is now not valid anymore, and we are happy to inform our guest about the totally brand NEW jacuzzi bungalow! So in order to get an accurate and actualized information, its is important to attach this answer or eliminate the now unaccurate info and description of this bungalow. Thank you for your understanding,

Hi Alocin,

Yes, it’s all solved. Due to the change of position of the jacuzzi, I also changed all the plumbing system. It’s all fixed!!!
Hope you can try it again one of these days....
We try to do our best. It’s not easy to find the materials here, people never respect schedule, and materials arrived late in the season. The truth is that I had that idea about the jacuzzi, for a long time but for many reasons , speciallly time, we could not do it before. But thanks to your comments we had to change our priorities and are very happy ,as result is a beautiful, bigger , wood heated and very cozy room, with the same view!!! I am sure nobody else will regret to book it!

The very best to you and see you one of these days, now you have my personal mail for any need!

Philippe REUTER

thanks for the pictures. That is a great enhancement. I wish we would have arrived two months later! I hope you could also solve the problem with the low hot water pressure. Then the bungalow would be what I had hoped for from the beginning.

Best regards,

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2009

After travelling through Chilean Patagonia, arriving in Terra Luna Lodge is like stepping into an oasis of warmth and tranquility. The place is owned by a former special forces French soldier who was done every extreme adventure on the planet so you are guaranteed to have available a range of outdoor activities. The lodge is quiet, composed of several independent units and one main building with about 4 duplex rooms. The architecture is funny, as there are many odd corners and stairs. Choose full board, since there is no other place to eat around. Rooms are nice, wood all around. Bathroom is tiny. The lodge is on the shore of breathtaking, awsome lake General Carrera and overlooks spectacular snowcapped Andes and glaciers. There are many extreme sports to tackle, including a very extreme upstream river riding on a jet boat to a more or less nearvy glacier. Not cheap but worth the experience.
The restaurant is good and a nice ocassion to share your day's experience with other tourists.

The Lodges ared situated on the shores of Lake General Carrera with a stunning view to the mountains of the Northern Ice Field.
Our Lodge was supposed to be for up to six people - we were three, which, considering the bathroom, should be the maximum.
Meals are served in a different house, which means steep walks after each meal. The meals themselves are ok.
We booekd a 4-days-tour "Wonders of Lake General Carrera" at visitchile.com. This agency promised a lot and confirmed on the voucher: for instance: a flight from Chile Chico to Balmaceda was supposed to be part of the program. When we got to Terra Luna, things looked different: no flight available - and visitchile could not be contacted! Nevertheless, we had wonderful days at Terra Luna Lodge, but our flight back turned into a car ride ... and visitchile never did anything to take responsibility for that!
So: Terra Luna: yes, but visitchile.com: no.
