My mom and I stayed here one night prior to a day spent in Tomar. The Quinta is beautiful little maze of rooms. Our room was reached by going through the dining area, then a small sitting room, and an altar room - felt very private. One of the best places I have stayed in terms of charm and character. My mom and I both were enchanted by it. The feeling of history, and the peacock family that roams the ground were some of the highlights.
The family that runs the Quinta was very nice and accommodating. We ate at the restaurant located on site and it was nice. The atmosphere was great, as was the wine. The food was met with mixed reviews, but none of it was bad, just varied from ok to great. The continental breakfast that was included in the rate was very good. Typical European fare, bread, cheese and meat, also croissants, cereal, fruits and yogurt. Totally pleased with it.
The rural setting was perfect for an early morning run. We were a bit pressed for time or else we would have taken advantage of their beautiful pool.
I came across Quinta Santa de Barbara last minute on booking.com. Our price was 70 euros for the night, but I suspect it would be substantially higher if you were to book direct.
Would definitely recommend, and would stay here again if I found myself that way.
