“Great Home Cooked Food at Fair Prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2015

My party of three visited this lovely pub using a prepaid Fish & Chips with a drink offer. We purchased a couple of starters and desserts in addition. All of the food was perfectly cooked from fresh, tasted deliciously hot and it was nice to enjoy a pub where you could hold a conversation without interruption from a noisy juke box, fruit machine or quiz/games machine. I didn't see any darts or pool table either which I found pleasing. The real ale I had was clearly well kept and served at the right temperature. The pub had a nice atmosphere, ans there was a good choice of food, including specials on the menu which included amongst other choices 4 different soups for starters. Prices were very reasonable. The high star rating Sam and Steph have achieved here is well deserved. All staff were very pleasant and I left knowing that we would definitely return.

“A good lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2015

We were diverted by roadworks and found ourselves in Holt at 1.30 on a Saturday. This place looked attractive so we found the car park (fairly full) and asked about lunch. We were welcomed and warned there would be a short wait as they were busy and we were happy to wait.

Good atmosphere, good choice of food (including specials board) and friendly staff. Food was well cooked and presented; the vegetables served included a red cabbage which was out of the ordinary. The desert menu tempted us and the bill was just over £30.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Deserves all the stars. We will return

“Good lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2015

Called in for lunch, the pub is clean and bright inside with lots of parking to the rear. The menu is varied and caters for a range of tastes. The beers are well kept and fairly priced. The food was excellent in both taste and value and the sweet menu is very tempting. The staff are helpful and friendly and the service quick.

“Good honest food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2015

Returned to this pub after a gap of many years, after dodgy reports from previous owners/keepers.. The meal was a gift from our daughter and we were well pleased with an excellent fish and chip meal. The present owners seem to have got it right, and we will certainly return under our own steam next time.

“Great value good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2015

Went for an early evening meal we had got on groupon so meal was excellent value for money. My burger was home made thick and juicy, I will go again if I'm passing. The welcome and friendliness of all the staff was lovely. It was a bit 'locally' at the bar,Mobutu the friendly greeting removed the feeling of being outsiders. As a small criticism although the bar ambiance was good, the restaurant could do with being broken into small sections to remove the barn/skittle alley feel, overall I would recommend the ham tree but it would maybe be nicer to eat in the bar area.
