“Good, not great.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

The resort is in a great location, and the beach is wonderful (although the water was too cold for us). It is at the northern end of the Margaret River area, so considerable driving required to get to the main vineyards and restaurants. We had a 2 bed villa, which was roomy and very pleasant to stay in. Small gripes - sadly, no views from the room, and the mini TV in the lounge room is a joke. The resort restaurant was OK. Pool area lacks shade when its hot and gets the cool breeze off the bay when it isn't so hot, so you don't spend as much time around the pool as you might like. Enjoyed it, but not sure i would go back.

This resort is not 5 Star and should not be allowed to advertise as such. TVs in rooms not working, no ATM or cashout, no shuttle bus service to town, no view from any room balcony and there was no value for money in the restaurant either. Over-priced food and wine and if you BYO it's a $20 corkage per bottle!! The region is fantastic, but this resort will not survive if it doesn't lift it's game.

The locaiton of this hotel is absolutely incredible. I spent 3 days exploring the area - wine, food, sunsets, white sand beaches, crystal clear water, kanga-roo's, etc., etc., etc.

I knew the area would have a lot to offer, but was not sure where to stay. After experiencing Bunker Bay, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

The staff were fantastic, the rooms incredible, the food superb.

I only made one mistake - not having more time to experience the hotel. I used the property as a base to explore the area, and now I want to come back again with the hotel as my destination!

Room Tip: Room with a view!

The staff in this hotel make the place! They are so friendly and helpful (in particular those in the restaurant) they make up for some of the negatives.

The view from the restaurant and pool are stunning and the beach is fantastic with soft white sand and whales splashing around in the distance. The rooms are spacious with good quality toiletries.

Now for the negatives....

The hotel charge a surcharge to pay with a credit card! This is a disgrace and for the price of the room should be absorbed and not passed on. The price of the room and food is unreasonable for the guests to carry that amount of cash.

The wifi is charged for which is not something I would expect from a hotel catering for non business guests and with a room rate at these levels.

The rooms are well equipped but don't have views of the bay, only the big bush and the few slabs outside the back door.

If it wasn't for the staff, we would have left disappointed with our stay and there are certainly more reasonably priced places in the area for the standard of the rooms (eg Windmills). The beach is great and readily accessible from the hotel which is an added bonus.

Stayed in the studio. The beach is very nice. White sands! ALthough the swimming pool looked great, my limited time and chilly weather didnt allow me to try it. Great for family vacation. Lots of great wineries within an hour's drive. Caves, and lighthouses, in fact there is one lighthouse 5 minutes away. I really enjoyed my 2 nights stay here. Price a little steep though, warning, Australia is expensive!

Stayed mid-week during a short trip to the Southwest.
This hotel is much better value mid-week. Still going through the transition to Accor and despite being a Platinum member did not appear to get any upgrades or other benefits.
Had a studio (402) on the left side. Super large room with high ceilings and fully self contained. Only small balcony with no views but a gorgeous garden. Two Tvs one for the bed, one for the sitting area, albeit nothing in the bathroom which is beautifully designed.
In the evening had a drink at the balcony bar and saw 10+ whales frolicking in the bay. Not so good for sunset as on the wrong side.
Would definitely return.
