“Heaven if you have little ones”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2010

We have visited Ocean Beach 5 times in the past 3 years - 3 times with our now 2 1/2 year old boy and 5 times with our now 5 year old boy. I think that says a lot about Ocean Beach! We have stayed in a variety of accommodation and have to say that the Gumnut Cottage is just perfect for a family of 4. The pool facilities are just wonderful as is the adventure playground and the proximity to Umina Beach. Our boys have an amazing time from the moment they arrive on Friday afternoon to when we leave Sunday. It is a truly perfect destination for those with little children who don't want to be driving long distances, if you live in Sydney.

We camped here for 4 nights with our two children 11&14 years old, we had a wonderful holiday and mostly our experience was positive but camping here is much different to staying in the lush cabins.

Our site number was 23 and it felt like we were camping in the middle of a car park no trees or shrubs any where, very hot and no character at all! I would definitely not recommend camping here unless you can camp along the creek front where it is quite pretty with some scenery and trees, although the creek was not for swimming as it was blocked off from the ocean so very still dark brown water.

The amenity block was dated but clean, they have a weird set up where you press a button on the wall out side the shower and then have five minutes of hot water, that's fine unless someone has pressed the button before you and walked off , then you just get whatever time is left from the the first time the button was pressed and when it runs out the hot water just shuts off and you have to wait 3 minutes before you can turn it back on!! It looks as though there used to be a light to let you know if the timer had already started but none of them lit up, considering what they charge a night for your site I think this is a bit lousy.

The park has a lovely safe family feeling about it with a lot of families with young children staying there, it is well run and kept nice and clean. The pool was packed the whole time we were there but it was still a nice place to be and coped with the crowd well, the cafe was nice.

The beach directly in front of the caravan park was a good safe beach when we were there, with a sand bar that went out a fair way, but lots and lots of dogs on the beach here it must be a designated beach where dogs are aloud off leash, so if you or your kids don't like dogs it could be a problem.

We had a really nice time here but wouldn't camp here again, for us the camping area just didn't have any charm and was way to barren.

we stayed here for 3 nights in December with young Children. We booked one of the 2 bedroomed town houses which was as described on the web and seemed to be as close to the ocean as the more expensive villas. The town house was great, very well equipped and clean with a separate TV upstairs for the kids. The town houses are at the preferable end of the park which is quieter and enjoys less through traffic! Saying that everything within walking distance. The playground and two jumping pillows are excellent and the kids enjoyed. the pool was great but crowded especially around the slide and we had to keep a close eye on our 3 and 5 year old who were splashed and jumped on by bigger kids. Saying that it was school holidays. the cafe was nice and reasonable priced. We were disappointed to find the internet to be expensive $20 for 24 hrs wireless or $5 per half hour in reception. The beach is nice opposite the park, not too many waves for the young kids. Overall a good place to stay with the kids probably worth the expense!

We stayed for 6 nights in a Seabreeze Townhouse with our 2 young sons and found this a great place to stay with kids. The Caravan Park is located at the southern end of Umina Beach, which is a great beach for young kids, the waves are small and it never seemed crowded. There is a large swimming pool within the park, which has a slide, waterfall, baby pool & spa, my kids spent alot of time swimming there. It was a little crowded on the weekend as the park was quite full, but weekdays were great. And you can easily escape the crowded pool and be on the beach within 2 mins walk. The cabins are very spacious & modern. All linen is supplied, except beach towels. We stayed in a cabin along the beachfront which is quieter than the cabins around the pool area. There is a large playground for the kids, a games room & kids club. There is also a cafe within the park that sells coffee/fast food/drinks etc. There is a skate park just outside the caravan park too. There is a supermarket within 5 mins drive along with many restaurants & shops. If you are looking for a relaxing family beach holiday then this is a great place to stay.

OMG! I have stayed at Ocean Holiday Park (OBHP) some many times, can't believe I had never written a review!

OBHP is a fantstic holiday destination. It has all types of accomadation, cabins rangeing from luxury spa cabins to basic but all are modern well maintained and very clean. They also have camping and caravan sites, but I have never used either of those. It has a resort style pool with spa, that also has a little kiddes pool, childrens playground, and a "barn" were they have activities for children. There is a activites program run by the staff for kids. They do things like craft, scavanger hunts, bingo, movies, sport. There are 2 large jumping pillows, that are great fun and 2 tennis courts as well. They also have tractor rides, which my kids loved when they were little. Also there is a lovely little shop called "The Chocolate Fish Cafe" on site that you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner at, or just grab a coffee or milkshake. ( there hamburgers are so yum!)

The holiday park is only a very short stroll to Ocean Beach, some of the luxury cabins are only metres away! Ocean Beach is for the most part a calm Beach, it has a section that is patrolled as well. Up near the surf Club
I have recommend OBHP to so many people you would think I have shares in the place ( I don't, I wish) You really wont be disappointed, the staff have such a high standard in everything they do, and it's just wonderful to go somewhere and know you arn't going to end up in a shabby dated cabin. Granted in can be a bit pricey, especially for the luxury cabins but I'am a firm believer in you get what you pay for!

OBHP really is the perfect holiday for everyone, but especially young families. Kids just have an absolute ball, and they will make great memories there. I know my daughters have.
