“Excellent not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

Glad I went on a Moroccan's recommendation and didn't read the reviews. We got a taxi guy to take us out here and pick us up later and loved it. We emailed first and were greeted by a wonderful girl who apologised for not speaking much English but she did speak a lot and was fantastic. She took us in the cellars to show us the wine being stored and packed and give details on the range. The owner is from Chateaux Neuf du Pape and makes a variety of red white and rose and most are organic which I loved. Then she showed us round the vineyard and we got to have a look at the rooms where you can stay and the pool then we went upstairs to taste some wine and then settled down for lunch. There was only us and another family but the owner turned up with his daughter for lunch too. We sat with wonderful views over the vineyard and the hills beyond and had the most amazing lunch they brought loads of bowls of tapa type dishes which were divine then the main course and so on with a glass of wine with each course and even a dessert one and we were stuffed. One of the best value meals we had all week. We then bought some bottles to take back to Essaouira and they gave us a massive free book on a Riad in Marrakech which is full of all their recipes so jst fantastic to take home and use. All in all a great little trip out of town and only 15minutes away - the wines and food were all lovely. Our taxi driver to an Argan oil co-op on the way which was fun too.

“Disastrous”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012 via mobile

This restaurant is difficult to get to if you don't have your own transport, but we made the effort and paid the price on the reviews to date. Having eaten lunch here, I felt it an imperative to let others know to avoid this place. On the day we ate, we were the only diners! The provide a set menu with a supplement for fish! This is for a place within 20 minutes drive of Essaouira. The starter was fine, comprising of a number of cold salads and Morrocan dishes, the fish was literally cut in half, grilled and served with a salad. It was a very bony fish and only a little appetising. The piece de resistance was the 'dessert', a slice of cheap cake with some chocolate sauce - disgusting. The menu supposedly came with four glasses of wine, though what was served amounted to two sip tasters, until we asked for a full glass to be served. Overall, please avoid this ace until they get their act together and deliver the quality that matches the price charged.

“Great experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2012

We visited the vineyard after tasting their special cuvee bottle at our hotel in Essaouira & then arranging to go out there. Very quick from Essaouira & makes a nice trip via an Argan Oil women's cooperative on the way. Had a very good chat with the French owner & his excellent Moroccan manager - learned all about their organic production. Then the great lunch, as others have said, oil & bread followed by endless small veg dishes then some delicious lamb brochettes. We didn't know you could choose if you rang ahead & my other half doesn't eat meat but the salads were so plentiful, he was quite happy with them & I scoffed his brochettes as well! Totally recommend for a half day outing from Essaouira.

“On top of a vineyard”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2011

The restaurant has a lovely location. In the middle of the vineyard of ' la domaine du Val d'Argan'. To be more precise: on top of the building where the wine is made and next to the cellars. There is a set menu. The menu includes 4 glasses of their different wines . Starters is a fast course what you can do with olive and argan oil. Almost 10 different flavors you can taste with nice homemade bread. After this intro different vegetables in moroccan styles tempt your taste. As a main course you can choose whether meat or fish. The main courses are not so good that really is a pity. But their is a solution. You can call them a day before you will visite the place and ask for a different main course. A tagine or a couscous. Both are really top.
