A terrible hotel, among the worst "good" hotels I ever visited in Ethiopia (if I do not count the simple hotels usually not visited by tourists from outside Ethiopia). It might be ok for rapid visitors who do not need to stay for a longer time, but only for them. At least the sheets are clean (as everywhere in Mekelle hotels anyway). The hotel has a good name among the higher middle class of Ethiopia, and among the state institutions, because the manager is closely linked with the ruling party. Therefore there are regularly big meetings of state institutions, but also marriages, and other feasts, which produce an inimaginable level of noise - sometimes until late in the night (the only hotel in Mekelle, were this is a repeated problem - I know all of them!) The hotel manager loves loud music (he has no feeling for good rhythm), maximum volume, and sometimes cannot stop playing himself in the restaurant until after midnight, so that even in the forth floor the windows are moving due to the basses. No one dares to stop him, as he is the manager. Only in recent months they started to stop loud music sometimes before 10 p.m. (anyway - way too late). As half of the rooms go to the street, it is sometimes a bit loud there (trucks in the morning). The other rooms go to the parking place, which is sometimes worse as many drivers have the strange habit to start their cars very early in the morning and run the motors over very long time without even leaving the place. When all the cars have left it is too late to sleep again, but you will be extremely tired. When you are sick, or thirsty and need something, you may remind the personnel up to five times during one hour to bring you something, be it as simple as a coke, they forget it all the time. When washing clothes, they are bureaucratic, and still loose some of it sometimes. But all the personnel is friendly. The food in the restaurant is not excellent, but even in Mekelle, were the culinaric landscape starts to develop, below average. But still it is ok. You do not become sick. But sometimes they may have rather good food.
Higher floors have less noise (if no neighbor disturbs by loud TV or talking outside their rooms, wh...
