Just hours before we arrived, Terri seriously injured her hand and was in hospital by the time we showed up. A lesser B&B would have (understandably) turned us away, but her husband Roger was dutifully waiting for us to give us the keys & dash off to the hospital after her.

Imagine our surprise too, the next morning, being treated to a full (two-course) breakfast, made with delicious organic ingredients -- when honestly given the situation we'd expected to be sent to the nearest pub for breakfast.

We can confidently say that, no matter what happens during your stay, Roger and Terri will look after you.

Oh and the B&B is gorgeously renovated, the rooms have modern, clean bathrooms and balconies with a breathtaking view, and there are great walking trails nearby. Impossible to be disappointed!

An odd thing about the Parkswood House is how few reviews it has. Of 7 B&Bs we’ve visited during our trip, this was one of the best – terrific views, clean and recently refurbished rooms, excellent food. Roger and Terri are incredible hosts, along with their several dogs and cats.

While the House is located 10-15 minutes away from the city, it’s a good thing – since Passage East is a nice and upscale suburb - a pleasant contrast with the industrial feel of Waterford. Take the ferry across the river for some wonderful (and not crowded) sightseeing of the Hook Head lighthouse, several abbeys and return back through Waterford via New Ross and the Dunbrody Famine Ship.

If you're planning a trip to the Waterford Crystal Factory, you must stay at this marvelous, extraordinarily well-priced hide-away. Roger and Terri are the proprietors, and are charming, attentive, and accessible.

Terri is a fabulous cook, and the full Irish breakfasts are more than you could possibly eat, with everything either homemade (she sent us home with a jar of her marmelade, which is fantastic) or absolutely fresh. Roger couldn't be more attentive, and is a wealth of knowledge.

The decor throughout the manor is elegant, yet homey.
Our rooms were light, well-decorated, and spacious, with en-suite bathrooms and a balcony.

The view is wonderul, looking out onto a river and hills, and if you're not allergic to animals, you'll enjoy the cattle grazing just beyond the fence. Terri and Roger's two cats and marvelous terrier (named Mabel) make this extraordinary B&B a perfect home away from home.

  • Liked — An elegant manor, charming hosts, excellent food. Excellent value.
  • Disliked — It can be a little hard to find.
  • Tips/Secrets — You must try this place...

For all of you who will be travelling to Wexford via the Cross River Ferry in Passage East.

My sister and I went there last weekend to have a pampering day in Dunbrody House (which was v. nice) but much too expensive to stay, so we booked into a B&B in Passage East. Beautiful place called Parkswood, they were so friendly and the house was fantastic, so clean and comfortable, I felt it deserved a mention.

We went to a pub restaurant in Cheekpoint, 15 minutes away, McAlpine Suir Inn, fantastic sea food and the best pints of Murphy's, had a lovely evening.

Would recommend highly...M.
