I arrived here on a cold, blustery winter's evening to be greeted by an oasis of welcome, warmth and beauty. Val is a wonderfully relaxed host who appears to be able to seamlessly produce delicious food. I was on business and new to this part of the country. I found it to be very beautiful and I also had a really enjoyable evening with Val and her mother, Josephine - two very inspirational and gracious women. If you are in this part of the country, for business or pleasure, you are highly unlikely to find anywhere that offers this combination of scenery, food, comfort and company and for such amazing value.

Last September we were touring Ireland, en route from Dublin to Co. Kerry, with a recently widowed friend who had previously stayed at Saratoga Lodge with her husband a year or so earlier.

We were told that it was a must see haven of tranquility located within a stud farm and run by the charming Valerie Beamish.

Well I can relate that it certainly was a delightful break even for only the one night. We had a super dinner of our choice, hosted & cooked by Valerie.

Her place is truly beautiful, looks a typical Irish Georgian small scale mansion but I'm going no further, for you'll be as surprised as we were when Valerie told us the age of the place!

Valerie is a great hostess and makes you feel totally at home, nowhere is off limits as it were.

Valerie remembered our friend's earlier stay with affection, particulary as her late husband was a great lover of horses, the turf, and the racing scene,

Room tip: Both the first floor rooms are good.

Saratoga Lodge in Tipperary is a great and conveniently located B&B for enjoying the Irish countryside at its very best. Val Beamish is a wonderful hostess, friendly, welcoming and great fun. Her house is very comfortable and peaceful. Walking around her picture-perfect stud is magical, watching her mares graze and foals frolic. Saratoga Lodge is as good as B&B can be. Such a peaceful and beautiful place. Many of her foals, like the champion Rip Van Winkle, have grown up to win important races.

We chose Saratoga Lodge because it was convenient as a stop-off between Cork and Dublin and it welcomed dogs. We hadn't bargained for the surprise of arriving to find the sort of place you dream of - very special indeed!

Valerie is a wonderful host and looked after us so well, we really didn't want to leave.

It's a real hidden gem, I'm sure we will be back.

Saratoga Lodge is a Georgina Campbell's recommended guesthouse where bed and breakfast and booked evening meals are excellent. Valerie Beamish is your hostess and your are entrusted with complete access to the house's facilities in Valeries absence. In the morning, you wake up to only the sounds of birdsong. The grounds of Saratoga lodge spread out to include her mother's residence and the family stud farm. Pooches are welcome also! Valerie has an Irish Wolfhound of her own who is very friendly.

If you want to get lunch, you can go to a local pub or supermarket in Templemore town and hidden away there is a lovely town parkland available for all to use.

There is loads to do locally and Valerie also supplies bicycles for hire.

Room tip: All the rooms are tastefuly furnished in the traditional style and are en-suite.
