We stayed in Blairscove for a week, and ate in the coach house restaurant on four evenings. It is so atmospheric, with views over Dunmanus way on one side and the courtyard 'zen' garden from the conservatory attached to the main room on the other. There are so many special features, from the high ceiling to the artwork, the open fires to the crisp linen on the tables, with soft background music or live piano. At one end is an open cooking area where much of the meat is cooked. We found the starter selection really excellent, with so much choice and variety, all sooo fresh and tasty, and some unusual items, like the pea, cottage cheese and wasabi sauce and beetroot cured gravilax. The main course selection was not that extensive, but with good variety and balance, and some items differed each evening. The accompanying vegetables were cooked in a variety of ways, all of which enhanced their flavour and complimented the meat or fish chosen. There is also a vegetarian option offered. The dessert trolley [which was also self service] groaned with choice - again, something for everyone, including a cheese board. The wine list was not extensive, but very pleasing. The service never faulted and was friendly and helpful. We thought that €58 for a three course meal plus coffee and petit fours was very good value, and will definitely be returning.
