“Excellent food on the river Shannon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

We were on a boating trip. Got into Shannonbridge late on a Thursday night. Thought we were too late, but restaurant was very accommodating. Had two magnificent filet steaks and a Hake dish. Best steaks in a long while. If you are on the Shannon, be sure and put this place on your list, well worth a visit.

“Very nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013 via mobile

I was here recently in a group of about 20 or so and everyone had nothing but good things to say about the place. The food was fantastic and excellent portion sizes. They accommodated perfectly with no hassle at all for someone who was lactose intolerant. The staff were very friendly and even though it was a full house that night we were served quickly. The building is really nice too it's like an old castle gorgeous inside but they could do with some music just to liven it up a bit. The only complaint everyone had was that is was ROASTING in there we were all sweating and there was no windows open im not even sure if they did open! But overall fantastic place would definitely recommend.

“lovely evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

We ended up in this restaurant on a sunday evening and were the last table to sit down that night. We had a lovely meal, every course was nicer than the last. I would totally recommend the noodle dish for main course - it was the nicest I've had. The staff was very friendly and didnt rush us, even though we were the last ones there. The building itself is different and after it we walked around the short tourist history walk. I would definitely recommend here.

“This place used to be really good.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Now maybe it was just having a bad night, but this was really bad the last time we went. Four of us sat down for a meal. The water on the table had been sitting on the table for sometime and was warm. The potato skin starter was good but was exactly one half of one potato for €6 euro. It also wasn't really a potato skin, it was in fact one half of a twice baked potato with chilli sauce and cheese. The steaks were OK but tasted a bit off and gamey to me. My dinner guests didn't notice so that might just be me. Luckily there was enough pepper sauce on the plate to cover the steaks. For €20 you would have thought the steaks would have been bigger. The Crispy Caesar Salads were the worst part. Take a few leaves of iceberg lettuce, add in about 5 store bought croutons, throw on about 6 small 1 inch strips of bacon only partly cooked and then plop a boneless chicken breast on top. Cover the whole thing with salad cream mixed with garlic and a bit of oil and throw it on a plate. Note the menu calls this Crispy, but there was nothing crispy on that plate. All for the price of €13 a plate. In summation, the food this trip was bad and the prices were way high. When I informed the gentlemen at the register about the salads he shrugged and said he would tell the chef. He seemed very uninterested.
