We arrived tired after the overnight flight from New York. So the Breakfast buffet was on in the hotel so we took advantage of a hot meal and some hot coffee to give us enough energy to get to our rooms. Our young waitress could have been a Russian immigrant as well as one of the other waitress she was very inexperienced with customer service to say the least. But we shook it off and drove to our Condo,
Once we arrived at our condo we found that the key cards did not work so we drove back to the reception desk, which is about a half a block away to get new key cards. By this time we were feeling very sleep deprived. We tired the keycards and again they did not work. Some of us stayed at the door of the condo, as it was too much trouble to get back into the car. This time we demanded a key, a real key to get in but nooooo they didn't think they had a key that would work. They sent us back and said the handy man would meet us. 10 minutes went by it felt like hours, one of our crew went back to the desk to find out where the maintenance man might be then it started to rain and the temps were coldish and windy. We were still standing out in the rain waiting to get into the condo. The handy man did turn up 25 minutes later and turned out to be the tech guy and his English was rather slim he could not get the keycard to work he ran back to the hotel to get the machine to reprogram the doors but that didn’t work either by now we are about to fall over, the desk tells us they think the maintenance man has a key to open the door. OMG we were about to rip someone’s head off by this time. The staff were very nice and apologetic but inept was the understatement of the day. So we all elected to sit in the car vowing to sleep in the car until the issue was resolved. Finally the real maintenance man showed up with a real key and opens the doors for us we could have kissed him. We found several things that did not work in the condo so it’s a call to the front desk. I know by now they must have called us every name in the book Ugly Americans, crazy Yanks etc. All this time Kathy was limping around on a sprained ankle so we put her on the pull out sofa downstairs and each time she fell asleep someone knocked on the door first it was the guy to fix the toilet then it was the other guy with more keys to the doors and each time Kathy had to hobble to the door as the rest of us we out like lights upstairs. The maintenance man was so sorry for the trouble and after Kathy hobbled back to the pull out sofa one more time. He gave her his personal cell phone number told her to call anytime if something else went wrong.
All of that aside the rooms were very clean and the bathrooms were sparkling. We could not figure out how to get the heat on, there were no instructions but the handy man stopped by and showed us how it worked with a key card.
I found out the the condos did not have wifi that was only in the lobby of the hotel that the rooms and condo's only used wired Ethernet connections. Most people do not travel with Ethernet cords the front desk said they could give me one but I use a Macbook therefore it has no Ethernet port and there was no adapter for a Mac. So in order to work online I had to walk to the main hotel and sit in the lobby to use the wifi. Very inconvenient and the wifi did not work in the pub area only in the lobby and it was pretty slow as well.
The best thing about the Hotel was the Pub, the staff and food were top of the line. We had some outstanding service and good meals.
The last days of our 7 day stay ended on a sour note as the washing machine did not work, we called the desk and they said they would have someone come by, a young man came by looked at it and said Martin had a long list of things to fix and would try to get to it. He did not get to until the next day which was our last day and had planned to wash our clothes for the rest of our trip. He showed up around 4pm and said it was broken and he needed parts to replace the broken ones. I said we are leaving in the morning no need to fix it now. Se we did the best we could with hand washing and drying on the balcony rails. Not a good idea as it began to rain. The last day also offered us sewer odors blowing out the drains beside our back door.
two of the ladies enjoyed the pool but were not thrilled that kids were jumping on top of them as they tried to swim laps. One of the ladies used the Spa and said it was excellent even tho they mixed up her appointment time, she said it was very nice once she had the massage and services.
None of the 4 of us traveling together would recommend this property. Even if the staff is friendly and apologetic it does not make up for all the negative things that's happened with our stay.
