“A Little Gem”

This hotel never fails to deliver excellent customer service, food and genuine hospitality. The rooms are a great size especially if you are travelling with children......definitely no cramped family rooms here!! The scamp is to die for and the mussels well it's worth a visit just for them alone!! The staff are lovely and so accommodating. There is always something going on in the evening too. Go on give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Stayed for a weekend break recently and were impressed by the cleanliness, the service the food and the wildness of the area. In addition, we mentioned that friends had booked the hotel for an anniversary and their report of their stay was a delight. Thanks to the staff response to our mention of the occasion.

Its a great hotel to just relax and unwind in. Superb beaches just a few minutes drive from the hotel. The national park is close by and so is Mt. Errigal. The hotel is easily accessible from the UK flying Ryanair to Derry and just 85 minutes drive to this beautiful part of Donegal. The beds in the hotel are luxurious, very big and so comfortable. These are definatelhy the best hotel beds I have slept in. The restaurant is first class. I enjoyed the fish which of course is so fresh and also the steaks. The breakfasts are very good, and I did enjoy the Traditional Irish breakfast, always freshly cooked. This is a traditional Irish family run hotel and this does make all the difference. The staff soon get to know you and are very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble.. You will arrive at this hotel as a guest, but most certainly will leave as a friend, and want to return. I certainly recommend The Caisleain Oir Hotel.

Myself and my husband traveled with friends of ours to the hotel for a Saturday night stay and it was wonderful from start to finish. We had a fabulous room overlooking the water, the bed was massive and so comfortable. We had dinner in the bar and it was the best, not to mention biggest steak I have had in a long time. Everyone enjoyed their food. There was a great atmosphere as well, which was made even better when there was a group who started a wee seisún and sing-song. The staff were friendly and attentive. The room had everything you would need. Breakfast did not disappoint and we spent that day enjoying the area before heading home. Would high recommend.

Room Tip: A room with a view is a plus!!

Had a little trouble finding the hotel as the sat nav decided to take me somewhere else. On arrival James checked us in, very friendly and most helpful with sightseeing advice. I paid extra for the sea view, the room was clean and warm, loved the large bed. The food was excellent, had fish and chips first evening then minute steak second evening both cooked to perfection the fish had light batter and the chips were lovely. The breakfast had a big selection from a traditional fry to kippers or smoked salmon with scrambled eggs or hardboiled eggs and of course the normal cereals and a bole of fruit, again it was all cooked to perfection. The staff are very friendly and make you feel right at home. That evening we had traditional music which was great and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The surrounding beaches are lovely. I would go back in a heartbeat, we did enjoy the weekend.

Stayed here last night, traditional small Irish hotel- a nice change from the all to common 'chains'- very friendly staff, great breakfast and a nice bar for a few pints. We didn't have dinner in the hotel so can't comment on the evening meals.

This friendly little hotel is beautifully situated. It’s set beside a tranquil bay and within easy driving distance of fantastic Blue Flag beaches at Carrickfin and Portnoo.
The bay view rooms have recently been refitted and offer loads of space, fresh contemporary décor and Superking sized beds.
I liked the soft, fluffy towels, the complimentary spring water and the fast reliable wi fi.
The view over the bay was lovely to wake up.

So was the traditional Irish breakfast. There’s a great choice for breakfast, with kippers and smoked salmon, as well as the usual cooked fare.
They also offer a super sized version of the traditional Irish! I haven't seen that anywhere else. The servers were friendly and hot selections were cooked to order. It was nice that a bit of mixing and matching from the menu created no problem.

We found the food at this hotel above average. The menu is the same for the bar and the restaurant. It offered loads of choice. The food is fresh, locally sourced and cooked to perfection. It’s hearty, but it's attractively served and with nice little individual touches and flourishes.
Fish choices were especially good, particularly the monkfish fillets. These were delicious. It was just great to have a traditional speciality like Carageen Moss included in the dessert selections. I thought this showed how serious Caisleain Oir is about showcasing great local food.

This was our first time at this hotel, but it won’t be our last. It’s a homely, friendly little place in a great location. As a comfortable place to stay with terrific food, great housekeeping standards and good service, it ticks all the boxes. From now on it will be our first choice in this lovely area.

Room Tip: It's worth a little extra for a bay view room. The view is so calming and traffic noise is not a...
