3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

Booked a 2 night stay at Villa Zolitude with my GF and was not impressed. First the positive things:

We stayed in a Grand Pool Villa and the villa it self was excellent with great indoor and outdoor features, but it is no were near the 200 m2 quoted on their webpage. The pool was refreshingly cold, on the border of freezing which is all good when the outdoor temperature hit 34 degrees centigrade. The open bathroom design inside the villa was excellent, with a nice tub and the bed was big and perfect on the hard/soft scale (hard enough but not Thailand rock hard).

As we stayed here for our two year anniversary we had booked the touch of romance package, and our bed was nicely appointed with rose petals when we checked in and after turn down service. The Complimentary sparkling wine upon arrival and the flower bouquet was really nice touches as well.

The Zense Spa was excellent and absolutely worth the price. The Spa was actually the only Zolitude part of the hotel and the masseuses were very good, obviously educated in their trade, and spoke very good english.

So over to the negative parts, and it should be said to the hotel defense that they were fully booked:

The package we booked included free transfer to and from the hotel, and this was the first place they really disappointed. I gave them a call from the hotel in Patong to let them know that we wanted to be picked up there, but after speaking to three different people it was clear that no one spooked enough English to understand that we wanted to be picked up at Patong and not at Phuket airport... From a "5 star" boutique resort I expect a lot more.

The restaurant 180 View, offer no such thing as the forrest has not been trimmed in years, serves a combination of Thai and Western dishes, neither of which was very good. Breakfast was okey and nothing more than that, and surely nothing special compared to other hotels and resorts in Thailand. We also ate two lunches there and nothing stood out, except for the waitress with a bad cold and a runny nose, which she kept wiping with the hands she served our food with. Quite appetizing...
One of the nights we had the complimentary Thai set dinner, which we booked directly at the front desk to avoid any more language barriers, the restaurant was still not ready for us when we arrived. The quality of the Thai food was okey, but way to spicy for my GF and their squid salad was easily the worst I have ever had in Thailand. Their wine selection was more like a joke, with 6 or 8 wines in total.
The second night there we had dinner on a nicely appointed table on the porch outside our suite. Even though the food was rather cold, it was easily the meal we had there. We were told to call when we were done eating (after all you are up in the mountain and the wildlife are close), so that they could come and clear our table. We did, they did not. And when we checked out at noon the table were still standing there...

The main pool (warmer than the pool in our suite) was excellent for swimming, but to get any beverage or food service there you have to call and order it. Of course the language barrier (I have be to Thailand 15 times and my ThaiEnglish is rather good) was in foul swing, and my request for a Chang beer (which they have in minibar in the rooms) was met with laughter. From the time we ordered drinks or food, it took anything between 10 and 30 minutes to have it delivered.

The biggest disappointment is none of the above, but rather the complete lack of Zolitude we experienced at the resort. There were crying kids everywhere and the wafer thin walls did not provide any sound protection at all. Had I known that this was a resort that catered to families with small children, I would not have booked it. I don`t want to sound harsh, but listening to children cry uncontrollably is not very relaxing, and definitely not very Zolitudeish.

The resort needs to decide what it wants to be, as it can`t be both family club and retreat for couples and others at the same time. We have been to many hotels and resorts (4 and 5 star) in Thailand before and after our run in with Villa Zolitude, and most of them offer a better product than this.

Room Tip: Try to get a Villa with a view (if they have such a thing), as not all offer that.

We didn’t really have a pleasant stay will villa zolitude. The electricity kept cutting out, our shower door wouldn’t close (letting in all the insects), room service took 1 hr to bring our food, and it was horrible. I wasn't sure what meat was in my 100% beef burger. .We were on our honeymoon and the staff didn’t really do anything to make it special for us, very disappointing. Location wise, it’s about 40 mins from Patong and 20 mins from Phuket town (although there is shuttle service to Phuket Town). For the money I think I would have rather stayed in bang toa. This resort has the making to be a good resort but so many things let it down! However the lady on reception was very helpful.

This hotel is great, the attention is haute game, the view is spectacular , the breakfast food is varied and rich, the room is well-decorated in a very zen spirit. We reserve the seafood dinner and it was simply spectacular, something romantic to do with your partner. I liked the fact that they have a mini bus to go to the beach and shopping center. The people at the reception is always available and are really quick. Thank you very much to Nook, Nui and Ob for your kindness. The pool at the villa its just perfect for a couple and it so nice to take a sun bath in such a private place. I will come back.

This is quite simply one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Energy traveller owes it to himself to experience this place. The property is amazing, the staff is courteous and attentive. Amenities are well organized and thoughtfully planned. There may be a better resort in the Phuket region but I can't imagine how.

I'd recommend hiring a car rough the vlla for the trip from the airport rather than relying on a cab. Do not panic when the car turns off the main road. The rustic neighborhood you travel through to get here is nothg like your destination.

Room Tip: As stated, hire a car through the hotel to get here as opposed to hiring a cab. Don't panic when...

Breathtaking! This hidden gem up in the Hills of Chalong is so peaceful. The food was amazing. Dessert Divine- highly recommend the Banana Flambe.
We stayed in a Grand Pool Villa and it was just stunning. Very clean, excellent layout and the BEST bed we have ever slept in-ever!! The 2 levels were great and well utilized for relaxing and having our own BBQ and our pool was a lot bigger than we expected! The gardens are so nice an well maintained. The whole layout is designed for total privacy. The main area is so amazing, you can see out over Chalong an the far off ocean bay on a clear day. The staff were so helpful an spoke excellent English. The day spa is pure heaven & very professional. We were so sad to leave, if we hadn't booked our next accommodation we would have extended our stay. Just beautiful. Ideal for relaxing an The private beach of Ni Harn is so much nicer than Patong. Chalong is also where most of the day trips an Phuket activities are so its very close to those and away from the loud hustle an bustle of Patong.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms higher up. would definatley go for the Grand Pool Villa again.

Without even mentioning the sheer luxury, solitude and incredible setting, the management of Zolitude have treasure in the exceptional staff who never have hesitation in pre empting your every need. Nothing is ever any trouble and their graciousness and typical Thai hospitality that spreads from reception, dining, gardening and security staff. Needing a desperate regeneration of batteries, this secluded hillside setting is the perfect spot for a luxurious getaway. Every need is catered for. We would recommend this perfect hideaway to anyone needing to experience a haven paradise. The rooms are exceptional with the beautiful view over the bay and the stunning private pool.
