“Amazing, Amazing, Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We had a wonderful meal in McNean House Saturday night past. It was a party of 8 and every one of us thought that the food and service was the best we have ever had! Lots of little suprises between our dinner menu selection and every course was introduced by the very knowledgeable staff. The food was stunning to look at and every mouthfull packed full of flavour. Nevan came out to speak to us afterwards and you could tell he just puts his heart into what hes doing there. Can't wait to go back!

“SPECTACULAR FOOD AND A WARM FEELING OF HOSPITALITY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

It's hard to combine both of the above but Neven Maguire's restaurant does just that. The taster menu was a delight, each plate a work of art, with tastes and flavours in every mouthful. But the most impressive part of the evening was a sense of warmth and home and hospitality and welcome which is very rare in this business-oriented world. We didnt stay but will definitely do so in the future. Go on. Get a babysitter.

“Fantastic dining and overnight stay experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

My husband and I had an amazing stay here as a special treat recently. We had booked months in advance on a recommendation from a friend - so anticipation was very high after looking forward to it for so long.....and it didn't disappoint. It completely blew our expectations - the dining experience (dinner & breakfast), the standard of the accommodation, as well as the professional, friendly staff.

When we booked the only 1 room remaining was the deluxe. Unfortunately now this is the standard that we would measure all future stays against as it was FANTASTIC. All the little extra touches were amazing - fresh fruit, cookies, brandy, separate sitting/tv area, huge beautiful modern bathroom, all situated in the quiet area at the back of the house.

On advice from a friend, we went for the dinner menu as opposed to the prestige - and we were delighted with the choice. And the inbetween chef compliments were as impressive as the menu options! All ingredients fresh, locally sourced - Neven doing a great PR job for local Irish producers.

Recommend going to the bar area well in advance of your booking - we had booked for 9pm, and were in the bar for around 8.15pm - allowed lots of time to look at the menu, have a pre-dinner drink and enjoy the nibbles. The experience is a long one! We were leaving the dining room at around 11.40pm....

Can't say enough about the lovely staff in the dining room - especially the lady at breakfast in the morning who also checked us out (we didnt get her name) - but very professional and personable at the same time. Just like the whole experience at MacNean House......

I can't wait for another special occasion to go again - worth saving the pennies for if you're a foodie (and even if you're not)!

“well worth the drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

really enjoyed my time at mcnean. i stayed the night and had the nine course taster menu with accompanying wine. If i'm honest it was too much for me and i would go with the normal menu next time but the food was fantastic, lovely people working there and really great experience, worth the drive

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

Just had the Menu Prestige here. All 9 courses were delicious, delicate and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable and Neven himself made a few gracious appearances to meet, greet and then even to solicit direct feedback on the meal. This last action was brave and he deserved the glowing feedback we gave him. Plan far ahead though, such is the demand that you may have to book many months in advance to get a table but, oh, the prawn bisque, pork cheek and his new partridge dish were all phenomenal and worth a wait!
