“A brilliant find in the sun soaked South of France”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

We found Les Marroniers in Alastair Sawdays guide to B&Bs in France.
What a top find - from the beautiful setting of the grand house through to the warm and relaxed welcome by Johnny and Michel - instant warmth and rapour from the both of them.
I cannot think of a better way to star the day than a continental breakfast under a tree in the garden.
We are looking to buy a place in the sun and we learnt an enormous amount.
We explored the area and began to realise what a good base this was.
Pont Du Gard, beautiful Uzes (a must) Nimes and the wonderful countryside.

We enjoyed relaxing in and around the large pool.

We cannot thank Johnny and Michel enough.
Also we feel that we have made some new friends and will definately return.

ten out of ten.

This year, we are staying in Les Marronniers for the twelth time. Every year it's a great pleasure to stay in this beautiful house with perfect decorations, nice garden with pool and the lovely hosts Johnny and Michel. A small village whithout any other commercial activities, but several lovely villages in the neighbourhood where you can go for a lunch or dinner.
Breakfast is perfect every morning with freshly baked croissants, baquettes and jam, yoghurt, fresh fruit, fresh orange juice, tea or coffee and ofcourse.... Johnny's morningkiss.
Hope to return many times!

We recently stayed at Les Marronniers for 3 nights as part of a trip to France to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Of the four places we stayed in Paris and southern France, this was our favorite. Michel and Johnny are wonderful hosts who treat everyone staying with them as friends (and yes, they believe in greeting you as friends with the traditional 3 cheek kisses! It was very sweet!). They are attentive, funny, affectionate, helpful, generous, and just terrific. Their home is beautifully decorated, spacious and well appointed. Our room looked out over the garden and pool and the morning sun poured in through the windows. This was the only b & b of the four we stayed at with both a shower and bath tub - a plus for the tub lover!

Breakfasts were ample and good, and Michel keeps a refrigerator stocked with wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks which guests can help themselves to for a modest price after a gratis "welcome" drink (honor system).

The village has no other commercial activity (though Michel says there's a cafe owned by the mayor that is open for a few hours a day - we never found it). You will need to drive to get to restaurants and other activities, but Uzes and many other towns are a short drive away through beautiful countryside.

Room Tip: Our room overlooking the garden was wonderful. We did not see the others.

My wife and I stayed in Johnny and Michel's home for the 3rd week of our jaunt around France. It was perfect.

The room was quiet, comfortable and furnished in traditional French style with full en-suite and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast in the garden each morning was a delight with freshly baked croissants, pain au chocolat, fresh fruit and yoghurt all beautifully served by Michel.

After breakfast each day we would set off to visit somewhere new - there's absolutely lots to see and do a week is not long enough to see everything of interest from this perfect location near Uzes. One of the highlights was a circular tour of small lesser known villages recommended by Michel.

Johnny and Michel were the perfect hosts; friendly, accommodating, descrete but always on hand to help or give advice on places to visit or eat. Uzes is a lovely old town with lots of restaurants but, disappointingly, too many pizza places. However, just a short drive from Les Marronniers there's a lovely little Auberge where the food is delicious.

Thank you Johnny and Michel, you made our stay with you one to remember.

Room Tip: They are all good.

The place was nice but one of the hosts was a very annoying character who insists on kissing you every time he sees you and then gossips about the guests behind their back by making rude remarks in front of other guests. The nice experience of our stay paled into insignificance because of his behaviour. We were planning to stay there more but now have decided that we will never go there again. It is really a pity!

We arrived hot and exhausted and met with generosity and kindness, nothing was too much trouble. The house was stunningly beautiful, the garden was full of delights such as the fig trees and the perfect pool. The hosts are very knowledgeable full of good advice, useful information and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. Breakfast out amongst the trees was a truly divine experiance and the party with the hosts friends on the last night provided a lovely end to a fantastic stay.

What can I say? My husband and I had a really wonderful time staying at your beautiful home. Best of all was getting to know Johnny and Michel...terrific hosts! We enjoyed our morning breakfasts and visits with the other guests.
We stayed in the room that opens to the pool...beautiful!!
We loved Uzes. What a lovely town and fantastic square.
We couldn't have asked for more, and would love to return to Les Marronniers.
Merci, Johnny et Michel.
