“Delightful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

My husband and I stayed at Tarn Country House for a few days whilst on our trip to South Africa. This is a very restful and peaceful country house. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - would recommend this highly. Although a short drive out of Plettenberg itself, there are plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area and plenty of things to do - we swam with seals!! The owners have plenty of fine recommendations.

We stayed 4 nights at this wonderful country house and Erica and Guy de la Motte were so kind and helpful in every way. The staff too were incredibly friendly and very eager to do anything to help, at any time of day. Delicious breakfasts sitting on the verandah and great restaurants suggested by Erica all very near. Whilst there we visited Plettenberg Bay, Nature's Valley and Storms River Mouth, all within a short driving distance, but we also managed a day sitting and reading by the pool in the lovely garden overlooking the wonderful Tsitsikamma mountains - sheer bliss and I just wanted everyone I loved to be there too!

From the moment we arrived till the moment we reluctantly departed our experience at Tarn was fantastic. Guy and Erica were very friendly and kind, extending us every courtesy and bending over backwards to make our honeymoon as special as possible.

The staff were very friendly and professional. Whenever something needed to be moved, cleaned, tidied or refilled - they appeared out of nowhere to sort things out and then disappeared as quietly as they came.

The view is magnificent and makes you feel like you've entered an oasis of peace and tranquility. There are also many things to do in the area, and many places to see. If you ask Erica, she'll recommend the hottest restaurants and attractions.

We stayed here for 3 nights and Erica and Guy could n't have been more kind and helpful. The place needs a bit of updating but having said that it was clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfasts. Erica was very kind as we arrived I was n't feeling too good and my partner did n't want to eat out alone. She very kindly gave him something to eat at no extra charge and expressed her concerns about my health too. Lovely lady. The views are stunning from the house and we saw a a few baboons there as they came for a drink at the small water resevoir in the evening. You can also relax by the pool and admire the views. Lovely place!

What a magical place to stay. Driving up the long winding path from the front gate to the house, you see packs of baboons and tortoises! The rooms themselves are very comfortable (not super modern but exactly what you need), and you are surrounded by forest, rather than the constant hum of the main town of Plettenberg. There is a lovely pool, and the breakfasts are wonderful, but most importantly, the hosts Erica and Guy are amazing. We sat with them each morning for breakfast and it was the best way to start the day. We will definitely be keeping in touch with them, and be coming back.

Staying with Erica and guy is unforgettable. Breakfast outside makes you lazy. You don't want to stand up any more. The views are so overwhelming when you see the tsitsikamma mountains and outeniqua at the same time. Erica helps you to find your way in the neighborhood. There are lots of things to do and visit also for the kids.
A lovely place to go back again
