My wife and I just spent 5 days in this resort, 12th February until 17th February 2012. From the minute we were picked up ay Chiang Mai airport I knew this was going to be a great place. Checking in was a breeze, we arrived about 9pm so we had already eaten. The room we had was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was also large and well maintained. When we went down for breakfast, this is buffet style, I was taken aback at the choices available. Also the quality of the food was great. We had an early lunch in the Golf Clubhouse, again a wonderful array of Thai as well as some western foods. We played our round of golf and found the course quite challenging as it is the dry season and they have to keep the ground wet. This also prevents the ball rolling as any golfer would know. We both had very knowledgeable caddies except for the last day when we got two totally inexperienced caddies that didn't understand more than a few words of English. This was our regimen for the time we stayed there also we teed off no later than 5 minutes from the booked time each day. Now for the Restaurant, we met the team leader and she asked how long we were staying and I told her. She then asked us could she please order for us. I told her I liked my Thai food very hot (chili) and she said that will be fine. When the meal came she stood beside me waiting to taste it. Normally when I ask for hot I get something that is more suited for my wife. I gave her the thumbs up and she was so pleased that her choice was so appreciated. Each night we had totally different meals and I am not sure if those choices were on the menu as I could not find them, although some were written in Thai only. The thing I could not believe was that when I signed the bill each time I was totally surprised how cheap it was. I am talking around $3 starter and $5 mains, the beer was even reasonably priced for such a high class reataurant. We had a wonderful stay and would most certainly go there again. The only thing I did not like was that their beds were Asian style, wooden slats with about 10cm thick foam mattress, this didn't suit me as I prefer the softer type of bed due to my age (69). If anyone reading this wants to go to Alpine my advice is to take the package deals they offer. I always make my bookings by phone for credit card security reasons. Anyhow next day when my receipt arrived it was a package deal. I rang back but the language barrier beat me so I thought I would sort it out upon arrival. When I asked the receptionist about this she told me this was the best way to do it as it includes 1 dinner plus the golf green fees. So in all I rate the Alpine Golf Resort as a great place with wonderful people and service. The total price is also very pleasant. I recommend anyone wanting a golf holiday to stay there.
Ask for a front room on the at least the 4th floor overlooking the golf course. Also let them choose...
