“The wonder of Bali!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2011

Our stay at the bvlgari Bali was a truly amazing experience. The view from our room and the rest of the hotel clearly defeats anything you may experience from popular spots like the rock bar or even the view from the ulluwatu temple. The hotel staff was very courteous and took good care about our personal preferences- nothing was needed to be reminded or repeated by us. The food at the sangkara restaurant was better than anything else we tried in Bali. The menu is minimalistic and well priced. Anyone looking for a private and exclusive holiday has to try the bvlgari. It's worth every penny spent. We are going back again.

I stayed at the hotel with my family, we are lucky as we made the booking early before the trip and got one of the few family villas there. The villa has 2 spacious separate bedrooms with both indoor and outdoor bathrooms at each room (master bedroom has a decent size study area), 1 spacious living room, and a small edgeless pool. The room has a very nice scent and toiletries in the bathroom are all Bvlgari products. Customer and butler services are excellent. However as with many Asian countries, due to the humid weather you are likely to find insects/bugs in the villa then again they do provide guests with insects repellent. Have a walk around and explore the villa, it has a picturesque and breathtaking view. Go to the restaurants to have a peek at the views the villa has to offer. Take the inclined escalator (it's at about 45 angle and few hundred meters down the cliff - fun fun fun!!) to enjoy view of the Indian ocean and sea breeze. Restaurants and bars at the villa are indeed expensive but which other luxurious hotels/resorts are not. If you are after a luxurious holiday, it's worth a try staying in Bulgari Bali for 1-2 nights and just spend your time at the villa. If you'd like to stay longer in Bali, then you may want to stay at a different place for the rest of your stay. Overall, we had a great stay there and definitely love our chillaxing time there!
Piece of advice: The villas are at the cliffs and there are wild monkeys from time to time.
Usually the monkeys don't interrupt the guests, but to be safe close your bedroom and living room doors at all times especially when there are food in the room!

Room Tip: Family/Group: ask about family villas

We stayed there for 3 nights and were upgraded to a cliff-side villa - the views of the ocean from this villa are astounding. The beds were comfortable, excellent etc., ample room space for a villa, brilliant plunge pool - so much that you really could spend all your time thre without even leaving the villa. However, given that this is supposed to be a brand par excellence, there were issues - the villa leaked when it rained, the turn-down service was below par 2 nights in a row - housekeeping had to be called in repeatedly. Food etc - great... We raised some of these issues which reached the GM's office, and they made good the shortcoming, in no uncertain terms - yes, we'll be returning again.

The resort lives up to the expectations and the aura the name creates. What a wonderful setting and gorgeous facilities! All rooms are extremely well appointed, with great comfort and attention to detail. All rooms feature open air living and dining spaces, intimate private pools with a good amount of privacy, rich dark woods throughout, beds that feel like a work of art, and stunning and outrageous bathrooms full of detail and rich amenities. Very much enjoyed the restaurant for breakfast, although be careful with the monkey family that comes to visit and loves the sugar packs! Stunning infinity pool with fantastic vistas, rich Spa, and a beautiful beach cove, although small and not recommended for swimming. The resort takes from the rich cultural heritage of Bali and incorporates all kind of elements into the experience. It blends old and new with grace and integrity. I highly recommend a few days in this idyllic resort if you are looking for rest and relaxation.

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided on the Bulgari Italian restaurant - Il Ristorante - for our anniversary night out.

This is an absolutely stunning hotel and is pure luxury. Rafael kindly gave us a guided tour of the property and the villas. The villas are beautiful and decorated with only the finest materials and linens. Stereos and TV’s are all B&O.

We started our evening at The Bar with cocktails. The view is absolutely stunning and the service exemplary. The canapés were excellent and the relaxed atmosphere made for the perfect start to the evening. We watched the sunset arm in arm whilst overlooking the beautiful ocean and sipping cocktails.

We then moved to Il Ristorante for dinner, which I would have to say is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten at. Having travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the USA, I am extremely choosy about fine dining. The atmosphere is elegant and the restaurant is designed in an open-air outdoor bale style.

As it was our anniversary we always have caviar and champagne. We had requested caviar in advance and the Bulgari graciously obliged. The hotel special ordered it for and it was fabulous, accompanied by the best and freshest condiments and blinis. All the ingredients at this restaurant are of the absolute highest quality.

The restaurant also has an excellent and extensive wine list and the sommelier made an excellent recommendation for the perfect wine that went with our dinner.

Having eaten until we couldn’t manage another bite – Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, Fois Gras Terrine, Slow Cooked Lamb Rack and Mandarin Marinated Salmon Fillet – we had a quick walk around the gardens in order to make just a bit more room so that we could try the desert!

Il Ristorante is a fantastic restaurant and I highly recommend it for special occasions or if you just want some of the best Italian food in Bali. We had a very romantic and fantastic evening. Thank-you to Alejandro and his team for making our anniversary one of the best ever!

With sweeping views across the ocean, and perched on top of steep cliffs, the location can't be more fantastic.

Service was very friendly and we have a great experience in the restaurants, the gym, and the facilities.

There was, however, one recurring problem when we stayed there. The villa leaked but we were not bothered very much and we were not staying for more than 2 nights so we did not report the problem. But I am sure the staff would have been able to sort this out.

There are, however, design issues with the villa itself which I doubt the staff can help. The living room area is not connected to the bedroom area with a covered canopy. They are just 2 steps apart but when it rains, one does get wet a little. Of course, one can use the umbrellas provided, but this is so troublesome.

Somehow remote, but location is amazing. Great views, great room, good food. What more would one want?

A bit wider variety of food perhaps, a cheaper winelist on the italian restaurant (not being able to find a wine bottle for less than 100euros isn't nice...) and plz plz plz try harder to get rid of the bugs in the spa (although being in the middle of a jungle-like surroundings, this isnt easy...)

Overall, you get your money's worth. Wish we could go back soon....
