“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

We have stayed at the hotel for 4 days for our trip to Bali, both the normal room and the ocean view pool access room. The view from the rooms are magnificent, overlooking the Indian Ocean. The jacuzzi equipped in all rooms is superb. The staff there are all helpful, professional, and always bare a smile on their faces. We were treated with care and attention. The breakfast at 360 restaurant was very nice, with a large variety of food.

However, your sleep may be interrupted by mosquitoes - but there are mosquito repellents available in your room. Also, the quilts seems to be a bit too thick and you may get too hot - got to turn up the aircon. Though the bed is very comfortable.

It was my girlfriend's birthday during a night of our stay - the staff were extremely helpful in assisting me to arrange flowers (at a cost), and the romantic dinner at Splash Restaurant. The food there was delicious, atmosphere was romantic. We would definitely revisit there again, we miss the view, the room and also the staff there.

Not up to 5-star standards!

We stayed here for the last 2 days of our 10 day Bali trip. I've been to Bali numerous times and I must say was very disappointed with this hotel.

First, the good:
Very friendly staff- they are really sweet and helpful and the staff at the Splash bar are wonderful. Helpful and made nice conversation with us. Everyone smiles and says hello when they see you.

Free shuttle to and from Uluwatu temple to watch the sunset. Our driver, Dadek, was awesome. He took us in and showed us where to get our tickets. He told us a lot about the area. This is a really nice service provided to guests.

Amazing infinity pool with great views.

Rooms are really big, bed is comfortable and there is a huge bathtub on the balcony! We loved that!

The Not So Good:
Hotel not in very good condition. Mold on ceilings, paint fading, unsightly stains on the building when we look out from our balcony. Rubber coming off door in the room and handle for
shower door broke off. The ceiling beside me at breakfast was dripping water.

Breakfast was terrible. Cheese platter had only two types of cheese and then disappeared when I went back to the buffet for seconds. No cheese platter on day 2. Congee was lumpy. Pastries did not seem fresh.

Towels at the pool have very unsightly stains on them.

The food at Splash bar is overpriced and the portions are tiny! I ordered the chicken nachos and it was EIGHT nachos with a piece of fatty chicken on top of each one. This dish cost over 100,000rp plus 21% tax/service!! The salad was good but shockingly small. Same price range. On our last day we had a pizza which was substantial and tasty.

Few choices in terms of restaurants despite the hotel being somewhat isolated. We opted to get a taxi to eat elsewhere the 2nd night. On the first night we ate at 360 restaurant. The Asian food was pretty good. Very small menu choices in comparison to other places.

Lots of stairs and the layout makes it difficult for elderly people to get around easily.

Wifi was unreliable and on our first day it was not working at all at Splash bar. It logs you out if you leave your device idle for a few minutes, which was annoying because I was trying to do work.

On our last day, there was construction on a rail in the pool area at 11am. Sparks were flying and almost hit my fiancé in the leg. There was a bad smell. Why would they do construction at this time of day?! The staff at Splash pool offered us a free smoothie each when he noticed how upset we were. I think his first name is Dodi..

Checkout was extremely slow. The staff were not well trained and did not seem to know what they were doing.

Overall we expected more from a 5 star resort. Compared to others we stayed at, this resort was disappointing, especially since the Anantara name is quite well known. I feel bad to complain since we did not receive any rude treatment, but I have stayed at 3 star places and had a better experience. I wouldn't stay here again and would be very hesitant to stay at any other Anantara resort. One thing I noticed is that some of the issues mentioned in previous reviews have been improved. It is clear that management cares about the customer's opinion and is working on improving, which is good.

Dear Alicia 23_13,

greetings from Anantara Uluwatu and thank you for sharing your experiences during your recent stay,

Thank you for highlighting the good points and for bringing to my attention the bad ones, which I have carefully read and shared with my fellow colleagues and the team, it goes without saying that we are sad for the instances where we failed to make you happy, all points are well noted and help is on the way, for instance with the WIFI, as we come out of rainy season now also an intensive maintenance program is under way,

we do hope that you will come back to Bali and please let this not overshadow the great brand of Anantara, in any case thank you a lot for staying with us!

with best wishes,
Stephan Winkler & team

Luxury at its heights, entrance was a kinda ride into small forest, you wouldn`t believe thr exists a massive hotel ...... the views were breath taking and breakfast had all the varieties. The price i think its a bit over priced considering the location and access to different places we were told there was free shuttle to uluwatu temple, but we never bother as we hired a driver and car, we stayed there 2 nights and had no problem, i did hear there was some work going on from the reviews on TA but didnt really bother me, the jacuzzi was a bit less maintained as it started releasing kinda rust from pipes(i assume) with water first time when i was tryin to fill. Spa was ok but felt a bit different service from the one in anantara seminyak. Overall the experience was good and enjoyed the luxury. Probably if you are in a ocean view room and want to get down to the pool and bar u need to do a bit of walk.

Room Tip: it is better to take a ocean view room in the top floor below the restaurant than a pool villa coz t...

Couldn't get any better than Anantara uluwatu for the first hotel on our honeymoon trip. Its stunning view tell the story itself about how good this hotel is. They even upgrade our room and make it even better. It is the one that worth every penny for the start of our honeymoon journey to Bali and Lombok..

When we first arrived to the hotel lobby, the ocean view in front of us was just amazing and we knew it we choosed the right resort at that moment.
We were disappointed when the AGM mr Mark told us that the room we booked is unavailable due to their booking system error. But mr mark compensate us with another room which is similar but only not at the cliff location(at main tower)with a half cut price and we were happy with that.
The room we took is ocean front pool access, room size is spacious.the open concept bath tub is cool,I m ok with the not so privacy design.my room with a small private pool which just nice for u to relax in the water and looking at the fantastic ocean view.
Food are ok,and room service is till 6am which is very important where the resort location is quite far from the town.we did tried the tepanyaki at 6th floor,as lot of people comment before,mr landi-the chef is very friendly guy,ven my son are happy with all his cooking trick show.
Basically, this resort is more suitable for those looking for peace, amazing ocean view, perfect environment to relax.
At last, the infinity pool is the add-on point for this resort.must jump into there to take some photo even u don't know how to swim.
I wish the resort team can keep the hard work and make it a real 5 star resort from all the customer.

Room Tip: If u are lazy walker, stay at main tower so that you save your energy to climb all the step.

Nice clean hotel with very friendly staff. The manager was friendly and came and introduced himself and offered any assistance while we were there. We stayed in an ocean suite which was amazing, very spacious with your own spa on the balcony.
The restaurant had amazing views with a large selection of food.
Overall a fantastic hotel. A five star hotel with five star prices and five star service. You get what you pay for.

The moment my girlfriend and I rocked up on a little scooter to the breathtaking entrance to the hotel and was greeted with the biggest smiles by the hotel staff who was so keen to help us with our bags and park our scooter to the moment we were waved goodbye still with smiles on their faces was something we both wont forget.

Checking in was so simple and the welcome drink was amazing. Within 5minutes (I think they were finished before I finished my drink) we were taken up to our 5th floor ocean facing suite. If only you could see our faces when we walked in to our room.... Holy moly!!! It was huge! Spotless! And the view!!!!! The friendly staff showed us around the room and all 3 of us (myself, girlfriend and staff) was smiling ear to ear.

Walking around the hotel i was like a kid in a candy store, so many places you wished you could gather all your friends and family and show them everything that you were looking at. The pool was breathtaking! The whole aura of the hotel was something you can only put in words in your mind. One thing I would do when I come back is organise the hotels dinner for two at any special location around the hotel e.g pool side on the edge of the cliff.

We ate at the new tepinyaki restaurante on the 6th floor where we were greeted with the chef, general manager, head chef and resturante manager, they all came up and introduced themselves and its moments like that, what makes you feel like you know your in good hands. The tepinyaki chef was so entertaining to all the guests including a few couples and even a young kid aged 3-4. He had us all smiling and laughing. The food was so well priced and delightful. Its not a small meal either (coming from a large eater like myself). I would highly highly recommend checking it out in your stay.

I would highly recommend this hotel and i will return sooner rather then later for a longer stay.
