“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

This is a great place that meet all our expectations. The place is wonderful and the sea views are splendid. The architecture of the villas and public areas are incredibly spacious and airy. Breakfast is a real treat, made several choices changing daily. Lunches and dinners are also very good. The staff is very helpful, friendly, discreet, efficient and very caring. The private pool was just fantastic and the garden as well. A superb location, with a breathtaking view and every detail has been studied to perfection. If you want to be surrounded by decadent luxury and feel like royalty this is the place to go. Of course everything comes at a price, but it will worth you every single penny.

We stayed at the 3-bedrooms villa for 3 nights and our stay was perfect. The villa is very spacious, with a fairly large lawn area for relaxation and a nice size pool. The customer service at Alila was superb! Our butler seems to know what we want and needs before we do. We have him arrange for some box breakfast for us one morning since we have to leave early for a dive trip, and it was the best breakfast to go that I ever seen.
The main pool is very nice but you should go early to avoid the crowds. The pool attendance presented us with a nice box of water, sunscreen and cool mist spay – all the perfect necessities for a nice sun bathing.
Overall our stay at Alila was fabulous. We wish that we could go back there soon

Absolute paradise.

Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend and couldn't have wished for anything more. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The Villas are top class... spacious and versatile - make them as open as you like... I could literally jump from bed to pool if I wanted! Then there's the Warung (restaurant).. we set up camp for a big lunch and from the tasting plate to start, it just delivered. Modern Indonesian cuisine at its absolute best. Breakfast in the other restaurant was also brilliant - varied each morning with plenty of options. The main pool area looking over the cliff is like a postcard. There's also a private beach which is a hefty climb back up, but more than worth it... the only negative from the whole weekend was that it was high tide so we couldn't spend much time down there.

Overall this place just really can't be faulted and ticked the relaxation boxes in a stunning location with great food.

Please enjoy their amazing service! When you r just relaxing n staying the most of time in Alila, you will feel how luxury n gorgeous they are. This is a family trip with our 1Y8m boy. I was a little bit concern about the kid's foods in here. It's turn out, our butler truly provides us what we need. And every colleagues is all nice to our kid. Really appreciate!
When I did the survey online, I'm so surprise in details they want to know before u get here. And they Do complete what u expect n even more. We spending lots of time between our villa n the main pool. We hv a huge fruits plate everyday whenever we r. Our terrific butler Mr. Ruru made the fresh juice everyday for us. I could totally just relax n don't need to worried about anything. Every times u go back to ur own villa, all is get tiny n refresh. Our butler also set up for the bubble bath with flowers, bath salt, candles n fragrance. What mommy needs most is a relax bathing time. He totally knows what we needs and shows up when we needs never ask our schedule. They hv good communications with their colleagues. So they know when provide nice services.
We stay four nights here n all dining in villa for dinner. The Indonesian foods of The Warung r so good. Breakfast at Cire is unforgettable. Breathing taking view.
You could just make reservation on the official website. The package is including round trip pick up service to/from the airport.
The mini bar will take charge which we don't know n it costs a lot.

THANK YOU EVERYONE IN ALLILA. Especially thanks to our butler MR. Ruru. The service made Alila gorgeous n luxury.

Room Tip: ROOM 314 got a great 270 degrees oceam view. Also heard about 409 408 407 r also good to.

Stayed 5 nights in Oct. I go on trip for doing nothing. Three things I want - 1. Good Service 2. Good Food 3. Big infinity pool. This hotel lacks the first two so here is my rating.

1. Service
Every single day, they have wedding ceremony and close one of the two restaurants. The public space is not so huge, the pool is far from quiet. Lots of photos are taken by visitors and you have no choice but to be in the photos. Most of staff hardly speak in English. Pool, restaurants, they start cleaning up my table or seat before I leave. They don't serve ice at the pool, just water. I tip USD1-3 for each service but run out of IDR10000 during my stay. The reception just coldly said they didn't have smaller money to exchange. No one came up to me and ask if my stay was going ok. Where is butler or manager? The last night around 10pm, they suddenly offered a complementaly one dinner or 90 mins massage. This is the service I got from USD700 per night.

2. Food
Not consistent at all. It goes ok from bad. Foodstuffs themselves seem to be very good i.e. cheese, pastrami. The only thing I like was the green salad. All organic and it is very tasty. When they cook, it magically goes bad. I have tried quite a few things, but nothing was cooked right. By the way, no champagne at breakfast. Yes, alcohol is pricy in Bali but come on...

3. Pool
The pool is beautiful. You can take amazing photos to remember. Just no privacy. The beach is cool too. Nothing is on the beach, 600 steps to get there. It's pretty good exercise.

The Yoga Instructor Warta is awesome. There is free lesson from 9am everyday. If you like him, you can take a private lesson. I would recommend a sunset lesson. The SPA is good too. The therapists are educated way better than the other staff in the hotel.

The property is well designed. Something is wrong with plumbing. Water comes out when I take a shower. It happens in the villa and in the SPA. Other than that, it's worth to see but maybe enough just to have dinner or lunch there. I would not recommend to stay.

Room Tip: Just ask for ocean view in advance.

AlilaHotels, General Manager at Alila Villas Uluwatu, responded to this review, October 21, 2013
Dear Yoyogi,

Thank you for taking valuable time out, to write a review about your stay at Alila Villas Uluwatu last week. I was most disappointed to learn we did not meet your expectations.

Due to a public holiday, we experienced a high patronage of our restaurants while you were staying with us and this may have caused your feeling of a lack of privacy while spending time in the pool and the public areas of our resort. We are sorry that we did not pick up on your discomfort and failed to approach you to enquire about your satisfaction. Moreover I regret to hear that you experienced inconsistencies in the food quality of the meals taken in our restaurants. The team is constantly reviewing the freshness and taste of our menu items and through guest feedback like yours, we continue to fine tune our offerings.

On a positive note, I am glad to learn that our Spa team and our Yoga instructor were able to exceed your expectations. I will ensure I share this news with Warta and the Spa hosts who took care of you.

On behalf of the entire team I would like to sincerely apologise for the shortcomings you experienced. Rest assured that this does not reflect our regular high standards, however we take your feedback on board and we are looking seriously into matters. The team is fully aware of your comments and we are following up on each point raised in order to to maintain and evolve our usually high quality of product and service.

We look forward to welcoming you back in order to restore your confidence in Alila Villas Uluwatu.

Best regards,
Marco Groten

We had the best holiday in a while at Alila Villas, Uluwatu. The hotel's setting is spectacular, staff are very warm and friendly and the villas themselves are large, beautifully designed and serene. What sets this hotel apart is really it's service and the pains staff take to make your stay enjoyable. We will definitely come back.

We were upgraded for free to this hotel for 2 nights. I can honestly say this hotel was amazing. We didn't leave the room for 2 days, was even offered a personal butler upon arrivals Breakfast was pretty good. Pool against the cliffs was out of this world. Cabanas are really relaxing. I would say it's quite isolated from
Most places and is about 1.5km from the main road. But you are going here for the hotel and nothing else let's be honest. If you can afford it (which we probably cannot) def give it a try even for 2 nights. I think this is the sort of place celebrities go to get away from it all!
