“Absolutely Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2012

WORST PLACE, NO SERVICE, I hated staying at this place.
When we got there the pool looked awesome with some bungalows located around it. But when we got closer the pool was disgusting and was full of some weird green slime.
Our room was old and dingy and smelly, which to make things worse we had paid significantly more as we were wanting to stay somewhere nice.
During the night we could hear rats in our roof so I went and talked to the staff about changing rooms but they never came back down. The next day I asked for a refund and they said no and FORCED us to pay the full rate with the assistance of the taxi driver (there's no other way to get transport their unless you have your own driver). By this time it was either continue and expect physical violence from the staff or to leave, so on that note we left.

Room Tip: dont stay here and you'll get a good room

The Bungalows seem really nice from the outside and are placed in a nice setting the pool overlooking the sea is really nice too. But the rooms are really old and in desperate need of maintenance, our toilet didn't have any lights and taps. We stayed with some friends too in which the aircons didn't work, the power kept on going down, all sorts of problem. No one to talk to except on the day we left. Really poor service, for the money we paid we could get much much better. Pity cause the place as I said has a great potentital

When you arrive, you see a lot of nice bungalows and a very nice pool with a view on the sea. But don't be fooled... the rooms are disgusting... it looked like the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in ages... weird smell in the room, air conditionning barely worked, the sheets didn't look clean and the staff looked like they didn't care at all... what a waste.

There is almost no staff in this hotel. During the day there's guy who's doing nothing and during the evening and night, there's a guard who is totally useless. No lobby, no manager, there's a restaurant room but no way t have any meal at any time of the day. The room was smelly when we arrive, the bathroom not clean at all. We stay there for 2 nights because it's quite cheap for Uluwatu region and during those 3 days, our room has never been done.
The good things are the location and the pool.

Room Tip: Choose a room far from the pool to avoid noise at night.

Enough said. The strawberry short cake blanket on the bed did cover the two of us, so my b.f wore a hoodie to sleep. Worst, worst sleep of our vacation.
For only 150k more stay down the dirt road at Surgia Bali. They have beautiful rooms and great staff. We were fortunate to have found this hotel after an awful night sleep here.

We went to Rocky Bungalows to spend 1 night so we could visit the Pura Uluwatu next day.
We arrived in the evening and nobody was in the entrance. It was hard to find somebody who could guide us to the room.
We saw a family having dinner and we asked if we could eat too but they said NO with no more explanations.

The bedroom wasn't clean. In the lonely planet says that they have TV+DVD, true. But as there's only 1 plug, you have to choose or TV or DVD (and the TV doesn't work anyway). As this Bungalows are in the middle of nowhere, having a TV would have helped.

The toilet was dirty. Plus we found a woman's underwear used hanging from the handle! So I guess they don't check the rooms after somebody does the check out.

The garden is nice and yes, they also have a swimming pool. The only thing is that around the pool there is crap: cigarette ends, a couple of used sticky plasters...
We won't come back.

The stuff also doesn't speak proper English so it was pretty hard to get a taxi. Oh, and they asked us to pay in the arrival instead of when you leave.

Also bring enough cash to pay, as the closest ATM is just at 10km!

We stayed there for a few nights purely because we wanted to surf at the surrounding surf spots. The place is way over priced for what you get when you compare it to other places of similar accomodation standard. There is no hot water, but we did have a room with air conditioning. The restuarant/eating place is pretty useless. Nobody is ever available to take your order, so we always ate somewhere else. The price does not include breakfast.

On arrival they expected us to GIVE them our passports, and to pay for our stay upfront. We refused so they called the owner who came and gave us a speech! We eventually hired scooters from them and went to get photocopies of our passports to give to them.

The staff "hang out" around the pool with their young kids who are very noisy and annoying. We felt we were ripped off as we had other much better experiences at the same, or even less than the price we paid.

I'm sure you will find better accomodation in and around Uluwatu.
