The Long Bay Hotel is exactly as advertised- small, quaint, beautiful location with good service. Host Dave is the man- from great recommendations on where to go/what to do and taking care of the "the little things", Dave made our stay even better than expected. Chris, the owner, is very friendly and knows the island like a local (he is one after spending much of his life on Antigua), Sacha is as nice as anyone you'll meet there, and either of the bartenders make the best pina coloda (no exaggeration) you'll ever drink. The beach is on the small side but that's not an issue since this isn't a huge resort and the water is gorgeous, the swimming tops on the island. The bay side is great for swimming as well. Be sure to ask Dave about an excursion to private Green Island and one of the most perfect beach spots anywhere.

There is just something about this hotel that made it the most relaxing of any Caribbean vacation we have taken. The hotel is situated between a beautiful beach and Long Bay. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was consistently delicious. The hotel has a great relaxed atmosphere, and any special requests we made (rental car, scuba trips) were handled smoothly by the front desk staff.

Our room was very comfortable, even though air-conditioning would have been a nice touch, the ceiling fan was up to the job of keeping us cool in the evenings.

The snorkeling and swimming off of the beach was very good. The reef is quite healthy, and we saw many different types of fish while snorkeling. We mainly saw parrotfish, blue tangs, sargeant majors, and butterfly fish. The hotel has a reastaurant at the beach, and there are several chairs set up on the beach for guests of the hotel.

This was not the most deluxe hotel we have ever stayed in, but this is the first one we plan on visiting again. We had a great time.

We had such a wonderful relaxing time at Long Bay. We want to thank all, for providing us with exquisite varieties of food and sincere warm customer service. Antigua is a beautiful island paradise and Long Bay, hotel and its staff make Antigua that much better beacuse it retains that small caribbean charm feel. After staying at Long Bay,l we stayed at a large chain resort, also on Antigua, where we thought we would again find paridise, but we soon found out we were wrong. The chain resort offered nothing but poor food and bad plumbing.

We thank all of the people at Long bay who made our visit a success.

My wife and I stayed at Long Bay from April 7th thur April 12th. This would be our first trip to a hotel without the normal perks of a more common resort phone, T.V swimming pool. We came close on a number of occasions to changing our mind and staying somewhere else BUT we are sure glad we didn't. Who needs a pool when you have a beach with white sand and almost perfect blue water that I might add is not crowded, quite and very relaxing. I would imagine that most grips come back to the rooms (basic) but I would say that in the end they almost grow on you or atleast did for me and my wife. The food was amazing and changed each night. The atmosphere was great and Sam the bartender is a delightful guy that makes the trip enjoyable. I would also add to the list Sandra (bartender) and Chris the owner not to mention Roma, all great individuals that made the trip fun and unique. I would recommend a trip to Harmony Hall and if daring enough rent a car and drive the island. In summary I would say take the risk and you will be glad you did.

Here's what's good about Long Bay:
- The beach is lovely. Very relaxing.
- Great view from our room.
- The rum punches are excellent.

Here's what's OK about Long Bay:
- Our room was adequate. Bathroom not really up to par, but in general fine.
- The staff are friendly enough. Polite, but by no means charming.

Here's what's bad about Long Bay:
- The evening meals (which you have already paid for in your all-inclusive rate) are awful. We tolerated two dinners in the hotel, then gave up and ate elsewhere for the following nights. They should offer rate which does not include dinner, because you should not be obliged to pay for such woeful food.
- Avoid the hotel's resident watersports 'expert' (a swiss guy who touts for business during breakfast.) We went on one of his fishing trips for $100, and it was bad value for money.

A final comment (and this is not a criticism, but an observation): I estimate that the average age of our fellow guests was approx 65 years old. I have nothing against old people, but as a thirty year old it felt a bit strange being surrounded by octogenarians. Again, this is not a complaint - but if you are expecting a younger, dynamic crowd you won't find it here.
