We decided to stay here after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and they were spot-on. This has to be one of the most relaxing holidays that we have ever spent. The hotel is in a perfect location with two contrasting bays. Yes, the rooms are basic but all you need in the Caribbean is a view, a comfortable bed and a through breeze; so I slept like a baby. The absence of kids clubs, video arcades, satellite television etc make it a great escape for the play station generation of children. The geography of the hotel is conducive for making friends; the games room becomes a focus for non-computerised fun e.g. table tennis, board games etc. The beach is beautiful and very safe; great for sand castles and snorkelling.
You find yourself immediately slipping into Caribbean mode, which is sometimes necessary as a certain amount of patience is required in the dining room. The rum punches are indeed real, as advertised, and served by the delightful Sam (been there for 40 years) and Gary (20 years), not poured from an industrial sized vat as found in the all-inclusive resorts. The manager, Dave, is a star, who takes a genuine interest in the guests.
The hotel will not suit the tourist who likes the hustle and bustle of a cruise ship, a large, modern resort or a trendy hip hotel. It is a place where less is more.
