We decided to stay here after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and they were spot-on. This has to be one of the most relaxing holidays that we have ever spent. The hotel is in a perfect location with two contrasting bays. Yes, the rooms are basic but all you need in the Caribbean is a view, a comfortable bed and a through breeze; so I slept like a baby. The absence of kids clubs, video arcades, satellite television etc make it a great escape for the play station generation of children. The geography of the hotel is conducive for making friends; the games room becomes a focus for non-computerised fun e.g. table tennis, board games etc. The beach is beautiful and very safe; great for sand castles and snorkelling.

You find yourself immediately slipping into Caribbean mode, which is sometimes necessary as a certain amount of patience is required in the dining room. The rum punches are indeed real, as advertised, and served by the delightful Sam (been there for 40 years) and Gary (20 years), not poured from an industrial sized vat as found in the all-inclusive resorts. The manager, Dave, is a star, who takes a genuine interest in the guests.

The hotel will not suit the tourist who likes the hustle and bustle of a cruise ship, a large, modern resort or a trendy hip hotel. It is a place where less is more.

I've recently vacationed in Antigua, West Indies: "WHERE LAND AND SEA MAKES BEAUTY" and it is truly that, but my rave is about a little hotel tucked away in the eastern part of this beautiful Island. Situated on a peninsula in the turbulant Atlantic, the beach which results is calm, with crystal clear turquoise blue waters and pink sand. The hotel was a total surprise to me as I did not know that is what I needed, until I experieced it. It's simplicity captured me, clean rooms with basic necessaties of life, free from the clutter of everyday living(no TV, no telephone)and a spacious patio overlooking the water to welcome in the dawn of a new day and to experience the glorious rising of the Sun.

However, what would this hotel be without its gracious mamagement and most excellent staff. Alast, it is most difficult to imagine, since from the moment I checked in, to the moment I left I was treated with hospitality beyond measure.

Thanks Chris, Dian, Stacey, Roma Sandra, Leona and the others whose names I did not get but their kind service is remembered. I will come again...sooner that you expect.

Having just spent a week at Long Bay, I can honestly say it was everything we expected and needed.
The location meant it was on the lesser developed side of the island, away from most of the big resort developments ( only one across the other end of the beach).
The room was clean, comfortable and had a lovely view of the bay. The constant breezes ensured that aircon was not needed.
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, especially Dave, Sandra, Gary and Sasha ( Bar Staff).
This hotel has everything we needed, water activities when we felt fit like it and a beautiful beach when we did not!
The beachside bar and restaurant was a lovely place to spend relaxing when not lying on the beach. The fare was very good value, not to mention the rum punches and Wadadli's.
The evening meal menus are very good and Chris the Chef ensures that all tastes are accounted for. The quality of the meals was far better than some five star resorts we had experienced.
If I can make a small critism it is this - there should be a little more flexibility around the rigid evening meal times and perhaps being able to eat dinner at the beachfront bar as well as lunch would be an added pleasure as the 6pm closing means you have to move down to the main building on the Bay.
Dave, Chris and all the staff made this a truly memorable first trip to Antigua! For value for money, this is a must.

Great for everyone. We, a family of four, 14 year old 12 year old kids, had a great time with friendly staff, happy locals and great service. If only we could have stayed longer... There is a helpful watersports director who organises regular snorkeling, diving, fishing and many more activitys with sailing, conooing, kiaking and swimming whenever you wish! I recommend this resort to any other on the island. It's especially good for quiet beaches. If you sail or kiak for 5 mins, you will find a small beach were only Long Bay Hotel visitors can visit which we learnt from the waitress there. Overall it it the best resort on the East coast, if not, the best on the island.

I selected this lovely hideaway as a result of reading the reviews from this site. I must say, the raves were right. This is one of the most tranquil relaxing spots I've been to. My hubby and I travel quite a bit and we are always looking for the quaint and cozy place, where you can meet some locals and fun tourists (but not too many tourists) and we found this at Long Bay. For the first few days, we had the place almost all to ourselves (there was only one other couple) and then shortly there after a few more guests arrived. If you do not like seclusion, this is not the place for you. If you do not like seclusion, this is not the place for you. I had to repeat myself, because it is very secluded. There is another hotel on the opposite side of the beach (almost every person we met who was staying there complained about the service and just how down right rude the staff was). Our staff treated us like family. Long Bay is very quiet, especially at night. There are no televisions, radios, and newspapers. WE LOVED EVERY MINUTE IT.

The staff was perfection. Dian is a gem (as is the rest of the staff) and she treated us like family. We saw the owner almost everyday (lucky dog owning something that great) and his business partner was also always on hand (he was also charming and extremely helpful). The food was great and the rooms were pleasant and cozy.

You'll need your mosquito spray EVERYDAY. There are no air conditioners, but trust me you don’t need them. My husband is always hot and thought this was going to be the end of him, when I told him the rooms only have ceiling fans, but to his pleasant surprise he was more than comfortable. You get a nice breeze from the bay.

Now let's talk about the beach. IT WAS PERFECT. THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO SAY. It's public, so you can meet some of the wonderful people who live on the island, it's calm and crystal clear, so you can see the fish swim around your feet and can snorkel right off the beach.

If you’re looking to unwind and completely relax, THIS IS THE PLACE. We will be back.
