“Back again, it really is that good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

What can I say to top the review from when we visited in September? It was like going back to see a wonderful friend and stay in her wonderful home. Elaine even gave us a lift to the Curlew this time. The only additional thing I can say is that as this time it was summer (and it was actually sunny!) sitting out on the patio outside our room late into the evening eating fish and chips (plates washed up by Elaine) drinking prosecco (glasses provided by Elaine) and soaking up the wonderful view and very late sunset to the west was an extra we didnt have in rainy September. I cannot fault this B&B and it is one of the best places we have ever stayed at and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. With the Curlew down the road and plenty of places to visit - why wouldn't you go? Will be back again to recharge batteries when needed.

From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble for Eileen. If you're not from the area it doesn't matter as Eileen is a walking oracle on all things Sussex so can always suggest places to visit or eat at. Everything is just right: location; rooms; facilities; and the breakfast! Lots of choice for breakfast, and all of it is fresh and produced locally. Even the bread is freshly made each morning. Really good value for money too so can't praise Slides Farm highly enough. Karen & Steve.

My husband and I stayed here overnight recently on a brief trip to Hastings. Eileen was very welcoming, the room was light, bright and airy, with a lovely patio so that we could sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine as the sun went down. The breakfast the following morning was simply one of the best I have had for a long time. The eggs were freshly laid that morning, by their own hens and nothing was too much trouble.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely farm and we are hoping to make a return visit for a longer break at some point!

What a find, lovely two bedroom luxury B&B with unrivalled service. Nothing is too much trouble for Eileen, the co-owner. Wonderful rooms with spectacular views. Fabulous comfy bed and linen. Gorgeous bathroom, everything exudes quality.

Amazing breakfasts, local sourced food home-made bread, (still warm!). Use of a kitchen with facilities to make your own drinks when you want. I could go on but I think you get the message! In fact I stayed at a well known 5* hotel in Madeira earlier this year and I promise you this is better

Finally it's perfectly placed for visiting all the local attractions. This was our first visit to West Sussex and Slides Farm but it will cetainly not be our last.

Slides Farm had been recommended to me as an absolutely wonderful place to stay. So my husband and I were expecting something really special, and something really special is what we got. Without a doubt, this is the best B&B we have experienced - anywhere. Eileen sets the standard that others can only hope to try and emulate.

From the moment we arrived we were enchanted with the place. Although not far from the main road, Slides is a haven of tranquillity. We were greeted by Eileen who could not have been more welcoming. She is a lovely, charming, bubbly lady who goes to great lengths to make sure her guests have everything they could possibly want. She seems to take great pleasure in making sure everything is just how her guests would want it. She gives the impression that nothing is too much trouble.

Our room was fabulous. It was spacious, tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and the view from the enormous window (complete with patio door) was breathtaking. Slides Farm sits upon a hill and one can see for miles. The patio is west facing and so had the weather been better we could have sat outside on the patio furniture and enjoyed the setting sun. The beds were extremely comfortable, with quality bed linen and quality quilts. The en-suite was also spacious, tasteful and immaculate, and there was always a plentiful supply of hot water.

The delicious breakfasts were wonderful – cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Eileen is an excellent cook and she puts a lot of thought into ringing the changes in the breakfast menu. On any given day there were so many choices it was difficult to decide. We stayed for seven nights and never got the same menu twice!

Both Eileen and Mike are more than happy to chat and tell you about what there is to see and do in the area. They make their guests feel like old friends - and like old friends we were very sad to leave – but we intend to visit again.

Having stayed in countless B&Bs previously, we know how hit-or-miss they can be. After plenty of research online for somewhere to stay for 2 nights whilst visiting Bodiam Castle and the surrounding area, I sent out emails enquiring about availability. This initial contact always forms one's first impressions and I have to say, Eileen should give lessons on courteousness and service. She was so prompt and efficient in our correspondence, I felt quite at ease about having booked in at Slides Farm.

The House and Room Itself:
Upon arrival, we were greeted by Mike and shown to our room. The accommodations were simply superb. Everything of a very high standard and clean. Even the set up of the house couldn't be more perfect. The area in which guests stay is removed from rest of the house -- you practically feel as if you have the place to yourself. The breakfast room is as well-appointed as the bedroom. It was also quite a quiet place to stay with such lovely views -- even in spite of the rain.

Above and Beyond:
Eileen truly went to great lengths to ensure we were comfortable and felt welcome. We were travelling with our 5 year old daughter and Eileen really was extraordinarily sweet with her -- even taking her out to show her the hens and let her collect the eggs. More so than the castle and anything else, collecting the eggs and Scrapper the dog were the utmost highlights of the entire trip to England. My daughter has already mentioned that we must stay at Slides Farm on our return across the pond.

In Conclusion:
This is an absolutely lovely place to stay and you'd be missing out if you were in the area and didn't stay here. Eileen is exemplary in her love for what she does and the care she takes to make sure her guests are pleased. Thank you for helping us make such a memorable trip, Eileen!

I booked this B&B for my partner and I after reading the fabulous reviews on Tripadvisor and was not disappointed. Slides Farm is incredibly peaceful and the rooms have beautiful views. There's a separate kitchen area just for guests which is available to use whenever you want and has every kind of tea you could think of, coffee, mineral water and sweet and savoury snacks. The bed was amaingly comfortable and the wi-fi was easy to use and fast. All of this would make for a very good review on its own but the experience was made even better by Eileen's excellent customer service and friendliness. During in our stay, Eileen went well beyond the call of duty for someone running a B&B, even helping us out with occassional lifts as we did not have a car and had not realised how difficult it would be to book taxis locally). The breakfast each morning was the best I've ever had. We will definitely be back...
