“Amazing experience of being In the Wild”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

I have been to this property thrice in a years time and I thought I would not be doing justice if I do not write a review of this property.
This property lies in Singara Estate near Masinakudi in Mudumalai Wild life sanctuary.
Have been there thrice and each time has been a memorable experience for us.I have been to the jungles several times but this is one property where you can get to see wildlife sitting in your room. The Jungle trecks and safari rides are really awesome and the best thing about the place is the serene atmosphere.
Food served is very homely and good but priced a bit high for the variety they offer but I guess thats the way it goes in a jungle resort whose location so remote.
The resort is managed by Arun who happens to be a wild life Photographer with a strong knowledge of the territory. The service by people in the resort is excellent.
The rooms are nice and clean and with a good ambience and if your going to stay for two days try the tree top for a night and the Mud house the other,I have always had sighting of Wildlife from the mudhouses,Got to see Wild dogs apart from deers, bisons,Elephants & Wild boars.
All in All it has been a wonderful experience all three times that I have been there and would continue to go there whenever time permits.

Room Tip: You can try the tree top rooms or the Mudhouses,Both are excellent spots for seeing wildlife

The resort is based in a place called Singara, its a private land right in middle of the reserve forest. Its about 6-8 KMs from the Masinagudi main town.
On our arrival, we parked our car in Masinagudi and were picked up by a Gypsy that drove us to the resort. We drove for 3-4 KMs on a concrete road till we reached the TN Electricity Board check post and took a right turn down from there. The terrain from here was a little rough going through dirt tracks, coffee plantations etc, but full of excitement! At the resort, I could see an Audi Q7, Ford Endeavor, Pajero, Scorpio 4WD. So if you own the likes of these and are comfortable with off roading you can drive right up to the resort as well!

The resort is located in a very peaceful, pristine and lush green location. The boundaries of the resort touch the reserve forest, so you are virtually in the middle of a dense forest with no fencing or any other means of protection. This is a treat for knowledgeable and aware wildlife enthusiasts!

The resort overall has few cottages, a single room tree house and a double room tree house. We stayed in the single room tree house, which was compact and clean, good enough for 2 occupants. There was an attached bath and an outer sit-out area as well.

The food was simple, tasty and moderately spiced. Typically for meals they have rice / chapati, a vegetable, sambar, a non veg dish (usually chicken), rasam, curd and pickles. For breakfast we got idli sambar and bread omelete. I was very pleased with the overall cleanliness and taste of the food. The staff was also very flexible in their service, I was offered tea whenever I visited the dining area, we ordered a chicken starter in the evening and the staff got it for us wihout any fuss. This was a pleasure when compared with few other resorts that are strictly built to a fixed menu and rigid rules of serving.

I stayed here for one night and got to see elephants, bison, boar, peacocks, deers, rabbits and lots of birds. The animals were at peace with the surroundings, while I was careful while watching them, they didnt seem to get alarmed or aggressive.

Overall I loved the resort for its location, cleanliness, efficient services and flexibility to serve the customer. I would recommend this place for any serious wildlife lover, who wants to be in the middle of the jungle and close to nature.
Elderly people or those with very young kids or those with severe orthopaedic problems, may want to have a chat with the resort management on the facilities available before planning a visit. One always needs to respect the fact that one is deep inside the forest here, so usual caution and care should always be observed.

Room Tip: The single room tree house is ideal for those who want to get maximum proximity to wildlife. However...

This resort was suggested by a friend. We went there for two nights. The resort is just awesome! Situated right in the wildlife. We arrived late at the meeting point, a power station. But no trouble. Our pickup service was still waiting on us.
The first adventure is the Jeep ride to the resort over winding jungle paths. We stayed at the Tree top house and I really was enjoing it. Incredible overview of the jungle and at night the real Jungle-sound - unbeatable. The staff is very friendly and takes care about everything. Had dinner twice and get excellent indian food on an outside patio. Also went on Safari at night - that is really a must do. We had been lucky and spotted different wild animals: bisons, deers, elephants.... but the most incredible thing was a indian leopard on a branch just a stone throw away... and the jeep ride thru the jungle at night was also an outstanding experience.
Will go there again when I get a chance.

An Amazing piece of Property owned and supervised by Mr.Arun - (Wild Life photographer).

We accidently bumped into this resort when we were exploring the place around Masanagudi and heard about this at the Singara Post .

Here is a true confession we had a accomodation in Mansanagudi (Forest Dept) after seeing this place we vacated and moved into this place for one night.

Awesome and simply the best place ive ever been or seen in my life.

Rating :- 10/10

Excellent hospitality from the staff members..Very enterprising Manager - Arun Prasad.

Check this place out its amazing with wild life active all through out.

Caution :- The resort is located in the thickl dense forest and is highly infested with Bears ,Leapords and Elephants...Do not venture out alone or take a stroll around without resort staff around you especially after 6pm .

The Log tree house is the best one to stay as it is located right in the edge of the resort and opp to a lake were all animals are spotted during the night.

Room Tip: Accomodations are customed according to the guest taste. Try the lake facing Tree Houses its simply...

Truly lives up to the name - In the Wild!!
The place being in the foothills of Ooty is beautiful. We were 8 of us who visited the place over the weekend and took the mud houses and a tent to stay. The safari was great. We saw many deer, bison and elephants.

The manager Mr Arun and the staff are very friendly and accomodative. The food served is very tasty. We enjoyed every meal :)

Definitely a must go for all wild life lovers who want a real feel of the jungle.

We loved our two days and two nights stay at Inn the Wild friom the first minute!! After being picked up in Masinagudi by a jeep, we we driven to Inn the Wild and yes, nomen est omen. Our accommodation was the stand-alone tree house which is located a bit outside the resort next to the water hole. We enjoyed many hours sitting on our balkony, gazing at the nature, enjoying a drink or two.
Although the resort is still in the process of buing built - no noises, don't fear -we still got lovely meals on our full-board package being served (our choice) either in the tree house or the soon-to-be-finished restaurant. The staff was nice, but as 95% of them were tribal people, communication was in very basic English. The resort wants to specialize in adventure tours wildlife experience - so we were duly informed that we were to go tiger tracking on foot the very next day!!
Although we felt a bit unsure about our desire to go and meet a tiger while on foot, we could not really chicken out when the friendly manager told us that the film star (who was there to shoot a wildlife scene), who always plays big heros in Indian movies - and incidentally wrestles a tiger in one of those - was way to scared to do so. So the next moring, 6.am, we duly trotted off with two tribal guys into the jungle. Alas, we weren't lucky, and did not see a tiger...only a less than two-hours-old footprint (it rained till about 4am). The morning trekk was still lovely, though, so I definetely recommend it!! We also did an evening safari and when we returned we had a group of 4-5 elephants chilling out directly by our treehouse.
The resort is not luxurious, so it is for the young and young-at-heart people as there is not much to do if you don't enjoy being in the wild...

Room Tip: Try to book the stand-alone treehouse!
