“Big resort hotel on busy Kamala Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

The hotel is a big resort right on Kamala beach, with spacious, clean rooms, around 6 pools and 2 big restaurants. Personally, we prefer smaller kind of hotels and we found the beach to be too busy for our taste (although compared to Patong this is a quiet beach!). The restaurant hotels are expensive for Thai standards but there are plenty of other alternatives both on the beach and in Kamala village, which is 5 minutes walk away. The massage we had was excellent and offered at the same prices as you find on the beach. Wifi in the rooms is charged at a crazy rate but it is free in the lobby.

This resort was spectacular, we stayed in the adult only section so no kids under 15 allowed but it is right next to the Sunwing resort which is very family orientated. The staff were really friendly and happy to help at anytime...including the doctors and nurses that have a room onsite and see patients every day. The resort has a mini shop on site and an ATM with good exchange rates and runs lots of internal activities; scuba lessons, Thai cooking, cocktail making, aqua aerobics, etc. The food at the two restaurants are addictively delicious and the view from the restaurant by the sea is spectacular, particularly at night with all the fireworks going off. The resort is literally right on the beach at Kamala about 15 minutes tuk tuk ride from Patong and is absolutely beautiful, lots of stalls, bars and restaurants day and night to explore and deck chairs to relax on..prices are fantastic! It is a resort though and very westernised, I'll be back and taking my mother and grandmother there in 12 months time :-)

This hotel does not live up to its 4* rating. We arrived on December 30, probably the busiest time of the year and the staff simply could not cope. The service was very poor and the staff not properly trained or managed. The rooms were fine, but the bed and linen was a very poor standard. The pool areas were too busy at the beginning of the holiday and the beach was a zoo. I imagine Kamala would have been a beautiful beach before it was over commercialised. It is now just rows and rows of sun beds - many very tatty. The main street is dirty and not maintained at all. There are however some good restaurants and bars away from the main street and beach - and at Surin Beach. Overall a very disappointing stay. I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If you have to stay at this hotel, request rooms in the new buildings by the first pool.

We enjoyed a week in a large clean and room on the 3rd floor, overlooking one of 7 pools. We did not use the resort restaurants as there are dozens of fantastic local ones along the beach. The beach is busy but has a lovely vibe. The hotel does not offer complimentary loungers on the beach - these are available for a daily rental. Checkout was slow as the room had to 1st bed checked.

I recently stayed at Kamala Beach Resort for 6 nights over Christmas, before heading to phi Phi Island for a few days for New Year. I was apprenhensive on the drive from the airport ot the hotel as I was under the impresion it would be a huge, faceless concrete jungle of hotel and as I got such a great deal on the rate I thought there would be a reason why. I was utterly delighted when we pulled up and I walked into reception and realised what a quality hotel this is. I used to work in the 5star hotel industry and I was highly impressed with Kamala Beach. The facilities are excellent, and whilst the hotel is very large it by no means feels imposing or impersonal. The staff could not have been more helpful and were very courteous and seemed genuinely happy in their work. the room was large, clean and had everything one could need, from slippers and robes to a well stocked mini bar (very reasonably priced), complimentary water once a day and a large balcony with comfortable seating. There are 5 swimming pools to choose from, each one very tastefully laid out with good quality sunloungers and not too close together so you don't feel like you are on top of the person next to you. Clean beach towels are available every day - so huge you could wrap up 2 people in one of them! the food in both the restaurants was very good as well. I recommend getting a room in the blocks nearer the beach so you only have a short stroll to the beach itslef where there are plenty of cafes and beach restaurants to choose from (highly recommend Ponds Restaurant about 3 mins walk turning right out of the hotel on the beach path). Kamala Beach is only a 10 minute drive to the hustle and bustle of Patong so if you want a night out you can do it easily, but then have the peace and quiet of Kamala during the day. I would definitley return to Kamala Beach Resort.

Room Tip: i stayed in the block nearest the Beach and the Prime Kitchen by the Beach restaurant - easy to walk...

We had the pleasure to stay at the Kamala Beach resort. The room was great-very spacious, well appointed, very comfy bed and great bathroom!

Very reasonable priced food and drinks. If you after a quiet location on the beachfront with no little people running around, then this is the place to stay. Pools and sun beds are in abundance and the swim up bar is just what you need after a hard day on the lounges!
