Flatey Istand is a beautiful, remote spot, accessible by ferry. Our Betchart Expeditions group stayed here. Our room in one of the small buildings was very charming, with great views. Bathroom facilities are shared, which became a bit problematic when the electricity went (which I am told is a frequent occurrence) and the facilities were not operational. The meals here were delicious - some of the best food we had in Iceland, particularly the breakfast. pancakes and hot cereal. Walking around the island was breathtaking, although part of the Island was blocked off because the birds were nesting. Definitely worth the ferry rides!
